Hi all

I am considering making a booking with the "Experience the NT, earn triple Qantas Points" promotions.

Two questions:
1. Is my reading correct that you only earn 3x Qantas Points but you do not get 3x Status Credits? The T&Cs talk about "and for the purpose of this promotion does not include any Status Bonus that may apply for tier members". I almost thought that Qantas wanted to give us an opportunity to earn SCs easily for FY21 (my membership year ends in Jan 2022, so I fear I will loose my Gold status as there does not seem to be a free extension on the horizon.
2. One other thing I don't understand based on the T&Cs is whether or not I will earn the full Qantas Points x 3 if a flight is booked as split into two segments (say: SYD - BNE - DRW and return) or whether only the BNE - DRW leg would actually earn 3x Qantas Points despite having 1 booking from SYD to DRW via BNE.

The T&Cs say: "Qantas Frequent Flyer members who reside in Australia (with an Australian address in their Frequent Flyer Profile), register and make an eligible flight booking between 12:01am (AEST) 26 April 2021 and 11:59pm (AEST) 30 April 2021 for travel between 1 May 2021 and 30 September 2021 are eligible to earn triple Qantas Points. Qantas Frequent Flyer members who reside outside of Australia are not eligible for this offer. An Eligible Flight for the purpose of this promotion means a Qantas operated flight with a QF flight number on your ticket where Qantas Points are normally earned to Darwin or Alice Springs, or a Jetstar operated flight where Qantas Points are normally earned to Uluru/Ayers Rock. Any other flight will not be eligible for this offer. For full details, see terms and conditions. Qantas Points and bonus Qantas Points will not be earned on some fare types and booking classes. For the avoidance of doubt, for Eligible Flights to Uluru/Ayers Rock, only Jetstar Max fare types where Qantas Points are normally earned are eligible for this offer. See Airline Earning Table for details. Each passenger in the same booking must register to qualify for this bonus offer. This offer is not transferable. If you qualify and register for multiple bonus Qantas Points offers for the same flight segment, the highest value bonus Qantas Points offer will be applied to each individual qualifying segment. For example, if you qualify and register for a 50% more bonus Qantas Points offer and a triple Qantas Points offer on the same flight, you will receive the triple Qantas Points offer as it will result in the highest total number of bonus Qantas Points. Bonus Qantas Points are based on the Base Rate which applies, or the Minimum Points Guarantee if applicable and for the purpose of this promotion does not include any Status Bonus that may apply for tier members. Only one bonus Qantas Points offer can be used per individual qualifying segment of your itinerary. Bonus Qantas Points may be earned on multiple eligible flight bookings made during the promotion period. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer by Qantas. Bonus Qantas Points may take up to six weeks after completion of travel to be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account. Flights are subject to availability and any applicable fare conditions. Flights can be booked via the Qantas website, a travel agent or Qantas Contact Centres. Fees and charges may apply. Your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number must be recorded at the time of registration and booking to earn Qantas Points. Flight gift vouchers purchased during the promotion but not redeemed for an eligible flight booking during the promotion period will not earn triple Qantas Points. Full or part travel of an itinerary is eligible only if you book (regardless of payment date) and travel within the promotional dates as listed above. If you cancel your initial qualifying booking or change it to be outside the promotional period, this bonus Qantas Points offer will not apply."

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

"Status Bonus" is the additional points that elites earn when flying - 50% for Silver, 75% for Gold and 100% for WP/P1. The T&C state that these bonus points are not multiplied by three, only the base earn is multiplied. Nothing to do with status credits.

Your question is answered here:

An Eligible Flight for the purpose of this promotion means a Qantas operated flight with a QF flight number on your ticket where Qantas Points are normally earned to Darwin or Alice Springs, or a Jetstar operated flight where Qantas Points are normally earned to Uluru/Ayers Rock. Any other flight will not be eligible for this offer.

So if you were flying SYD-xBNE-DRW, you'd earn 1x points on SYD-BNE and 3x points on BNE-DRW.

For anyone interested in the offer, you can register here:

I'm tempted to book a trip to Darwin, although most of the flights offered for the return leg depart between 1-2am. That's a bit of a turn-off.

Also, I'm slightly confused by the wording of the T&Cs which only states that flights to ASP/DRW/AYQ will earn triple points. I assume the return legs from those places would also earn triple points, but I don't think it actually says this anywhere? It would be less ambiguous if the T&Cs said "to/from" or "between".

Amazingly there still appears that there are a few of the "half off" flights still able to be booked...

But these days the issue is status credits not points.

Especially if you like wandering

Some members care more about points than SC. If you've already booked enough flying to attain or retain your desired status then for many points would become more important.

But with the status extension from one QF flight some don't need any further SC from any flying for months yet, hence the value in a triple points promo.

After being refunded the points for 3 international business class bookings last year and continuing to earn, I have more Qantas points than I have ever had before - and likely more than I can efficiently use before the next enhancement.

Certainly I am not chasing points at the moment.

February anniversary don't get the status extension from one QF flight....

Oh to be wandering

Thanks everyone for the insights / confirming my read of the T&Cs. I have a early Jan 2022 anniversary to renew to Gold and there is no way I can earn 280 SC from now to then, so I feel I will just loose my status then unless QF changes its approach. Let me ask that question in the wider thread.
