Exciting News from Allan (according to the email)

The linked page says those in the trial were selected based on their travel patterns to/from PER.

Which I find hard to believe because I travel to PER once a year. They could have easily selected other people in the trial. (Yes, I was 'selected').

Same here - I got the email as well, but checking back, I have been to PER 5 times in the last 4 years -

BNE-PER-BNE (2006)
BNE-PER-KGI-PER-BNE (2007)
BNE-SYD-PER-SYD-BNE (2007 - in one day, in Y - the trip from hell)
BNE-PER-KGI-PER-BNE (2009)
BNE-MEL-ADL-KGI-PER-BNE (2010)

So, I'm not sure what "travel patterns" they were using to select people, but in my case, it seems a bit strange. :?:

I did 4 trips to PER last year and one this year on the mistake fare, will be interested to see how the trial goes!

(Very) recent WP recipient here... been to Perth twice this year so far, and will probably go back in the next couple of months (though QF doesn't know that).

No idea how they decide these things, but it does look cool...

I'm going to be getting some fun mail soon -- I have a new WP card in the mail, and also a new new WP (with intelligent Q) one on its way too... :)

Why is it so hard to believe. By your own admission you have travelled to Perth.

Perhaps I should clarify:

I thought they would select people who frequently travel to and from PER.

IMO an average of 1-1.5 times per year is not frequent.

To be fair, I guess they needed a varied demographic. All of the trial members can't be fluro shirts, after all.

I never wear fluoro, but also travel very infrequently to Perth. Might just book a JASA there to check out my new card when it arrives! My theory is that it might be recipients of the Air mag +/- have travelled to PER. Shrek has neither and he didn't receive Allan's email lol!

Interesting theory - I have travelled to PER (as noted previously not very often in the last 4 years, but between 1998 and 2006 probably averaged 5 trips per year), and do receive the Air mag (pain in the cough - apparently it can't be folded to fit in PO box, so I have to endure the queues to pick it up).

Perhaps a straw poll to correlate the receipt of the email and the Air mag might be in order to validate Fiona's theory?

OK ...

Air Mag - Yes
Fly to Perth - No (last time ~2001)
Email - No

:D

Hey Guys,

Just something regarding the baggage tags,
When the tags are printed from the kiosks or premium service desks, the bag tag will have 'priority', 'business', or 'first' printed on them inside a little shape.

The linked page says those in the trial were selected based on their travel patterns to/from PER.

That's interesting as I have only flown to PER once over the last 2 years. In fact none of my upcoming trips have PER (except a transit on my way to KGI).

Having said that I might be going there later this year for a work trip.

For the premium security lane, this will only be open during 'peak' time MON-FRI.

Also this will be hosted by a QF staff member to kick (move people) out of that area! JQ pax do not have access to the queue.

Hey Guys,

But if you have the RFID tags on your bags and do not get one printed at the Kiosk then you get no priority...

Im pretty sure the baggage guys can see that it is an RFID tag, and the color of it and then place it accordingly in the correct area.

Though your theory may be flawed, that is a sound idea (says he who is trying to save some points for another big trip ). However, finding good priced J ASAs are not easy in the near future (and I am trying to find some flights ex-SYD for A332s with the new seats).

FWIW I do not receive Air magazine.

Thanks QFCSA for clarifying a couple of things, although if the priority information is now going to be less apparent than before then that still does not bode too well about whether priority baggage will have a chance of being preserved under NGCI. Perhaps I'm catastrophising too much, however (i.e. let's give the system a chance).

Glad to hear that the entrances to the Premium Security will be moderated!

To read this board, you'd think that Priority Baggage doesn't work anyway.

Doesn't that slightly discriminate against baggage handlers who might be colour blind?

Not trying to be a legal bast*rd here, more facetious if anything.

So in this case you'd be looking for J priority (no circle RFID tag) and dark grey circles (WPs), then maroon and gold (amber?) circles (for QPs and SGs respectively). Workable, although might be harder at night.
