Ever been downgraded on CX?

I have, for the second time now, discovered that I have been downgraded on a CX flight (AA redemption) for SIN-HKG due to change of aircraft.

The flight was booked in First (Z) and isn't for a few months.

On a previous occasion I was able to change dates so I could still fly in F, but this time I won't be able to, so I'll have to cop the downgrade.

My question is - what will happen at the airport? Simple apology, or some sort of compensation?
 
I assume you could call AA and ask for points refund of the difference between F and J? I guess this is only possible if it was a simple one way award booking though. If there are more legs on the ticket then I assume that's a no go.

Correct - it's not the only leg in the booking so a refund of the different of points isn't an option.
 
Luckily I have not been downgraded yet on CX although I have noticed scheduled aircraft changes on some of my bookings.

SIN-HKG is not a long flight and a downgrade from first to business would not be as bad a downgrade from business to economy.
