But A kind of mucks it up if you still want to go to the lounge!!

Unless you combine A and C... so after check-in you say 'hubby has important biz client in F lounge, we need to drop by there, let's see if we can all get in, but if we can't, we'll have to see you in an hour'.

She said she will go in to the F/L on the way back :p with my hubby and I can go to the Q/P. She is laughing that I was worried.

Oh - sorry - when you said you were talking with your friend I didn't think you meant THE friend!!

Oh well it is all sorted then and you can enjoy!!

Good for you. The lounge really is a fun one... lots to do and see.

If you really need to experience the lounge go on a separate trip with your husband and not be indifferent to your travel friends.

Our next trip is to Mexico and Florida and guess who we are going with ......... same couple

Glad you no longer have a dilemma maureeng! :)

FWIW, I would simply have gone into the F lounge and let my friends go into the QP - I don't see an issue with that, particularly if you've never Flounged before. They have QP access, you have Flounge access, and you can all get together 'later' in the QP, then on the plane, then in Fiji, then on the plane back etc. etc. They won't miss you for a short sojourn in the Flounge. If I was in their position it wouldn't bother me a bit. And it sounds like it doesn't bother them either. :)

FWIW

I guested nlagalle into MEL F as a 3rd guest late last year. Mrs. M and I were already in the lounge, the lounge was very vacant and I asked the counter man nicely to which he agreed on the basis that the lounge was very quiet.

Not long after, 2 other friends arrived who had QP access - we vacated the F lounge and jound them in the dungeons.

If you have access to the F lounge - use it, its not every day you get the chance, and if your friends begrudge you using the F lounge prior to spending the XX number of days with them on holiday, well...

Thanks Munitalp

I may ask if it is very quiet. We will do the same as you and join them in the Q/P later. We are checking in 3 hours before our flight so even if we spend 1/2 - 1 hour in the F/L and the rest in the Q/P it should be fun. If I had been in the F/L before then I wouldn't care.

My wife believes that 3 hours is nowhere near enough time in the Flounge... ;)

enjoy yourself

err no... which is why it is quite amusing you have agreed to swap the F/L inbound for the F/L outbound :)

Haha she will get me back as we are all travelling to the USA next, so I will have to take the Q/P then or the J as we are all going business class.

I am well aware of the lounge in question and it does not change the ethics at all, if you are aware of the rules and knowingly try to break them then as far as I am concerned, thats unethical, you are asking a company employee to overlook their own employers policies as a favor to you. To me asking if you can bring in additional guests when you are aware its not permitted versus asking at a time when its not clear whats permitted are two very different things and very much involving ethics.

I noted your advice was similar in this thread, with other posters suggesting a call ahead, however the outcome was the same!

http://www.australianfrequentflyer....antas-first-lounge-sydney-guests-25314-2.html

The person asking to guest more than one person into the FL is not the one breaking the rules - show me the rule that says you are not allowed to ask the agent if you can guest more than one person in. If any rule is being broken it would be by the agent allowing the extra guest in, not the person asking the question.

You quoted three other posters saying they had seen/heard of people being rejected trying to bring more than one into the FL, I guess that means it's completely impossible, right? I suppose that means it's never happened and never will happen in your eyes? Have you ever personally tried it? Didn't think so.

The quotes were of two people responding to a similar request in a thread where you gave the same advice you did here, and one from someone who did follow your advice and ask, they were the OP of that thread and were refused the extra guests.

On the basis of that recent experience and other threads also reporting similar experiences I believe the wise thing would be not to ask and learn from the experiences of others in order to save possible embarrassment, thats my input, so please also dont be presumptuous about what I may or may not have done, its not helpful to anyone.

Has anyone asked and been given the green light in the case of an adult non family member?

Yes, in business domestic...empty lounge and we were all nice and good-looking (well nice anyway..mostly)

That was the original plan but they decided we should arrive and check in together to be seated together.:-|

As all of you have status of QP or above you should all be able to allocate your seats ahead of time. Your hubby can call the QF Premium Desk & have your bookings linked so that way your friend will see the same seat map as you & thus be able to allocate your seats ahead of time.

If you wait until you get to the airport it'll probably be too late by then, & alas hello QF Club.

If you don't have success pre-allocating seats together, you & hubby could 'volunteer' to go out to the airport early to try & get you all seated together, avail yourself of the physio :p etc, oh & maybe the other delights of the Flounge then the others can arrive later at which time you can all meet up in the QP!
