I am currently 50 mins into my J AUH-SYD flight and using the on board WIFI.
Quite fast and only $21 for 24 hours coverage.
The more I fly Etihad, the more I like them.

$21 for 24 hours seems good. Is there any restrictions on it and what's the speed like?

I didn't know it was that cheap. I'll try it on my return flight from Frankfurt.

The Etihad inboard wifi was essentially "unlimited" for the 24 hours which is enough to get from BNE to LHR. It did drop out a few times, but overall was good. I would prob not try to torrent anything but it was good enough for Skype. I didn't try FaceTime. I am surprised that QF didn't get enough take up, especially from those who wanted emails etc for work.

Do we know how much of their fleet actually has it running?

How much is etihad's and how much do people pay???

I actually suspect this will be like hotel internet. The airlines who lock in early will have expensive multi year contracts necessitating expensive passenger charges... the later ones with lower it costs will offer free to elites or free to all.
