Hey all,

Booking a flight from Dubai to Barcelona which goes via Abu Dabhi.

Just checking the page before I paid and this stuck out to me

11:00pm Dubai Etihad Travel Mall (Bus)

EY 5429Etihad Airways
Bus
2 hrNight time flight
Flight arrives the next day

Am I correct in saying that this leg is on a bus and if so does anyone know how long before departure does one need to arrive before it leaves - 3 hours like a flight?

First time ive come across booking a flight on an airline and it showing a leg as a bus.

Yes, it's how Etihad gets people from Dubai to Abu Dhabi.

It's about a 1hr drive from Dubai to Abu Dhabi so you can take a taxi which will be about $60-$100.

Why don't you take a taxi and just book Abu Dhabi to Barcelona?

When I was looking at SIN-DXB recently, the SIN-AUH fare was about $100 more than the SIN-AUH-XNB. I wondered if you skipped the AUH-XNB leg whether it would be like no-showing for a flight and your ticket would be cancelled.

When I took this bus I just showed my ticket and they ticked my name off on their list. Normal check in procedures happened at Abu Dhabi airport.

Thanks all,

So I was looking at points flights out of Abu Dabhi but was getting no results for my dates. Changing the search to say Doha or Dubai and flights came up DOH-AUH-BCN and XNB-AUH-BCN.

I decided on the Dubai departure as its closer.

I wasnt sure I could risk it and skip the bus and just arrive at the airport as my itnierary has the bus as a flight leg with EY number and everything.

Not much information anywhere about the bus service or how it works.

How long before departure did you get to the bus area. Is there places to sit, grab a coffee etc...

This was a few years ago and the bus stop was just a normal bus stop on the street outside a mall. I arrived around 30 mins before departure.

Looking at their website it looks like the bus stop has changed locations so it could look different now.

Actually just called up Etihad and was told the bus service is just a complimentory service and I dont need to take it if I have my own transport to the airport.

Il still double check with ground staff when I arrive into the country but this is good news

Hi AFF Collective
more questions on the Etihad bus if I may ask.
The timetable says it takes 2 hours but the Eithad web site says about 75mins
So I'm booked on EY 462 AUH to MEL departing 0955 in Y:oops:
So my bus choices are 0410 and 0605 . If it takes 2 hours the 0605 gets me to AUH at 0805, 50 mins before check in closes, hopefully no flat tyre. Or it gets in at 0720 if it only takes 75mins, which is plenty if time.
So the question is does anyone have first hand knowledge of how long it takes or should I just swallow the cost of the cab at that hour of the day
Thanks in advance

It's about 1hr by car, so don't see how it will be 2hrs by bus when it goes directly to AUH. 75 mins sounds accurate.
