Etihad chauffeur

Thanks for the advice, fellow members. Will call VA today and get the numbers. Pity it's not me flying, but Ms Duffa will be happy to know that she will be collected in Dublin. She'll also have to TR the flight as I've never done EY J or F and would love to compare it with pointy QF, SQ, CX etc

Duffa, I recently did an EY J redemption through AA - once itinerary received, I called them back and asked for the EY booking reference, went into EY MMB and chose my seats, booked chauffeur. So I would give VA a call.
I got my EY booking ref and have logged in to choose seats - all good
Tried to book chauffeur online but got the not "eligible" message
Just to recap, I have one-way VA J redemption on EY metal MEL-DUB then another one-way VA J redemption CDG-MEL on EY metal
Has anyone succeeded online or should I just call them?

It's definitely possible to book online, but there's all sorts or weird things that go on with an individual booking that could cause a problem.

Give 'em a call because you're definitely eligible.

Will do. Thank you for your help.
She is definitely going to do a TR after this !!

It's T-48 and I haven't had the chauffeur confirmed... should I expect a call tomorrow? When do they usually confirm your pick-up time?

On the other hand I got an e-mail immediately after booking, a month or so out (as well as 24 hrs beforehand) ; but then again I had a totally weird experience with them. See here.

Hmmm will report back tomorrow when they (hopefully) call me.

It's a nice service – It definitely makes EY a more attractive option (compared to the likes of SQ and CX), assuming it actually functions correctly. Your experience seems very odd though! Surely it's really simple...

Update: got my confirmation call at T-26.

Pickup is 13:30, departure is 15:55. Does that seem like it's cutting it fine?

They have a tendency to pickup F pax last to give them minimum time at the airport. I quite like it.

Of course, without a EY MEL lounge it may not be that bad an idea!

You can of course, change the time. Just call them.

That is nice. I can't imagine it would ever take more than 30 minutes to get through checkin, security and immi for a J or F pax.

On one hand, I love the whole journey of it and don't mind being at the airport nice and early.

That said, I don't have a huge need spend heaps of time in the NZ lounge prior.

30 minutes sounds right. You just need to give the staff a fair amount of time to get your baggage on the aircraft. I think 60-90 minutes is fair.

A few questions re Etihad chauffeur. We have booked a chauffeur from Abu Dhabi to the Dubai cruise terminal next week. The problem is we arrive from SYD at 5:30am and don't need to be at the cruise terminal until midday. How long can we delay the chauffeur? I know we can have breakfast and a shower in the lounge before we get the chauffeur, but really how long can we delay the departure. Secondly, how much to tip what would normally be a 250 dirham taxi ride, or are tips a small gratuity based on the service provided. Thanks in advance.
