thanks boomy
i'm not even sure if we're going to get to use this service- we booked 3 return seats in J using our AA Advantage miles - we fly Melbourne-Abu Dhabi-Athens
then
Abu Dhabi - Melbourne
but, I booked in November for next September and I seem to get the feeling the rules have changed.
too late now to call them as it's after 5pm and Christmas Eve...

if i'm able to book the chauffeur service leaving Melbourne- will I be able to also book it on arrival in Athens. we are on two separate flights- the second flight leaves Abu Dhabi after a 2.5 hour transit.

I'm afraid you will not get chauffeur :(
Anyway try to call them, maybe you get someone who is not fully aware of the updated AA booking rules...

Is a Honda Odyssey a limo for one Pax with one bag?

I know this is PER but I think this is stretching the standards a little. Would it even qualify as Uber Black?

No airline defines their limousine types except perhaps EK F or EK I/O for this very reason. During peak periods the contracted company has to outsource. The alternative would be no car at all...

With that reasoning would a UberX be acceptable (better than nothing at all)? Although nothing is guaranteed, some minimum standard needs to be upheld.

That's your problem :p

Alright, just kidding.

I don't think I've ever seen a Honda of any kind in the Uber Black range, but that's just my experience.

How was the Odyssey? Was it well maintained, very clean, set up nicely inside, etc.?

What class of service were you flying?

I have no idea if EY have "standards" though they simply contract the job out to the respective chauffeur company of their choice in that port. (EY conveniently "disclaim" all responsibilities, including the quality of the delivered product, related to the chauffeur service, according to their website). The website seems to give no indication what kind of vehicles can be expected or a minimum standard; the only lines being:
Enjoy the luxury of a chauffeur service
...which is the headline of the page describing the service, and...
With a fleet of high-end cars,
...which introduces the section talking about where in the world you can book the service. Neither set of words (or the rest of the page) is particularly useful as any kind of indication.

Opposite ends of spectrum for me from PER. Was picked up pre-xmas in a silver Holden something sedan. It was reasonably nice inside, but wouldn't call it a luxury vehicle in any way. Returning was also silver, but a Mercedes SUV, very nice.

Best pick of the bunch was a black Mercedes sedan in London, brand new and incredible interior.

I'm not sure they differentiate, didn't appear to be so at AUH. We were directed to first car in the chauffeur line who was prepared to drive to Dubai when landing in F (Audi A4). Travelling back to PER in J an Audi A6 picked us up.

Travelling in EY J and the Odyssey was as 'acceptable' as an Odyssey can be I guess.

For a comparison, at LHR, EY provided a long wheel base 7 series BMW.

PER and LON are not comparisons. Apart from the fact that BMWs should be easier and cheaper to import into the UK compared to Australia, there would assumed to be a lot more competition in the chauffeuring business (not just for airlines, for all sorts of purposes, including private).

In all cases, I'm assuming you're only making an observation; not a basis for lodging a complaint or grounds for compensation.

I booked my EY F award using Velocity in April 2016 for flight in March 2017. Virgin sent me a new ticket number in September, probably due to small shift in scheduled time.

was a bit worried as EY website tells me I am not eligible. Called EY today and was successfully able to book my chauffeur service. Hope this sticks :)

Beware Etihad chauffeur in Perth.
Until this time we had had no problems before. But my husband was travelling the end of March. We had the chauffeur booked at 2.30pm but on the day of departure they rang and said closer to 2.45pm which was cutting it a bit fine, for a departure at 5pm with it taking 1/2hr from our place to the airport.
No show at 2.45pm so we rang the company. Just on the Tonkin Highway they said which was probably still 15mins out from our place. This could have very easily meant that he wouldn't have got to the airport by 90min before.
Luckily I wasn't flying so we jumped in the car, and I took him to the airport!!!!!

Read the small print Etihad don't want to be responsible if their chauffeur makes you miss your plane.
