It's strange, more availability on A380 F then B777 F.
Nov & Dec on some days up to 6 Guest First seats!

ahh thanks - so it's only QR & QF that get the 'through' rate?

Yes correct.

Note that QR will start flying their A380 to SYD from 15 Sep so SYD-DOH-CDG/LHR all in F can be good AA redemption to Europe. Their F maybe not as good as EY's A380 apartment but should be better than QF.

A couple of days ago I also logged in and was able to enter the details for a pickup in Zurich and a drop off/pick up in Abu Dhabi.

Back in March I was only able to book F on the AUH-MEL 777 aircraft & was planning to search for availability on the A380 closer to departure but I may now miss out on the chauffeur if I do that. Decisions, decisions.

I just phoned and changed our Feb 2017 AUH-MEL-CBR booking so we can experience the A380.
We are now flying AUH-SYD-CBR (additional $90 in taxes) :).

I logged into my booking and my ZRH and AUH arrival chauffeur are still there but no option for the AUH departure one.
Very happy with the result

My + 1 has an EY J Flight Lhr-Syd coming up shortly, which was booked with AA miles ages ago; when i try to book a chauffeur online on the EY website, it says not eligible :(

Interesting. I've just logged-in to Etihad Chauffeur website and managed to confirm a pick up online.
For reference my booking was done pre-devaluation.

it was also predevaluation....will ring Etihad closer to travel date to see what the story is.

Rang Etihad today to try and book a chauffeur car....after an eternity on hold, an apologetic agent came back and said the type of booking (AA redemption) I have was no longer eligible :(

Quick question. Do they taxes and fees AA charge for Etihad bookings equal the same taxes as shown on the Etihad website for Award bookings? Just trying to work out a total price with taxes and fees factored in.

I just booked Etihad 1st Class Apartment to Abu Dhabi from Sydney using AA points. The taxes were $86.60 pp. The Etihad website showed taxes of around $570 for two. Very simple process, rang AA customer service reserved the flight. Called Etihad to ensure that we got adjoining seats, reserved the seats, then bought the miles, called back AA and paid for the taxes and tickets were issued straight away. The customer service agent cancelled the usual service charge on telephone bookings as the flight could not be booked on aa.com.

Thank you for that data point. So it would seem there is no other way that ringing up AA and making a booking to find out what the tax component will be.

Will be very low on AA compared with EY.

You could go to ITA matrix and look at the actual tax component for your route.

The Etihad site adds fuel surcharges. Those aren't levied by AA for EY flights.

As scwappy points out, your cash payment is going to be in the $100 region or less, not several hundreds of dollars. But this will depend on how many flights you are booking in the one ticket, and whether or not you are leaving from the UK for example.

Thanks for the ITA tip.

Exactly - AA passes on mandated taxes, levies and charges on EY sectors. Etihad add their own levies, often coded as YQ or YR - these have generally been referred to as fuel surcharges in the past.

It is inaccurate to state "Etihad website showed taxes of around $570". It is far more accurate to state "Etihad website showed taxes of around $87 and airline surcharges of $443" - but the website may not make that clear.

I generally get around this by using "+++" as a catch all. e.g. "Etihad website showed +++ of around $570"

Sydney-Abu Dhabi is 100k AA miles in F one way. A few days ago I flew my last exceptionally valued AA redemption when I flew the apartment for just 60k miles. Such a steal back then.

Wow, only 60,000! How was the flight, is it as good as everybody seems to say?
