eSims, what is your experience.

These days there are thousands of eSim sellers, but probably only a handful of wholesalers.

No idea about the Stans but I'd check reports on what underlying network carriers have the best reports in those regions, and then choose any eSim provider that covers them.. Most more publish a list.
Yes, some are better than others showing what networks (and whether they’re 5G or 4G etc).

Eskimo is one of the better ones. Just scroll to bottom of the Global Plan (or relevant Regional, Country plan) to get a list. eg

When moving around, the other thing is to work out whether it’s better to get a Regional plan (usually cheaper) or just run with a Global plan for ease.

For Eskimo, however it looks like most of the Stans are in the Global plan anyway. The good thing is you can reuse that elsewhere if there’s data left over.

It’s my main “Global” plan I have in the virtual “back pocket”.

I used a Saily eSIM a few months ago and found that lots of websites and apps were detecting it as a VPN or blocking access due to geo-restrictions. Just something to consider with eSIMs and what country your IP address appears to be from.

Does anyone have any experience with bcengi?
You only pay per GB for what you use, the prices in the countries I've looked at (UK, Jordan, Morocco) are good and there is no expiration date.
They get 4.6 on Trust Pilot.
No 5G, but I think I can live with that.

I've been a fan of eSIMs for years but Global SIMs are a game changer! I'm currently using bcengi and it's been fantastic. Basically you just buy the one eSIM once and forever. Turn it off in Australia, and on in each country you visit. It'll connect automatically to the local provider and switch as you cross borders. Return home, switch it off and it's there next time you travel. No expiry date.

This in itself is useful but the best is not having to buy a package for each country (usually for more data than you actually use, just to be sure), pay for more than you need and lose any unused data.

You just keep your bcengi account topped up (you can set to recharge automatically) and you are only charged for the actual data you use! You can check the cost for each country but it seems very comparable with any other eSIM, if not cheaper.

As the advertising says :

- 200+ countries with one eSIM
- Never expires
- Pay only for what you use
- Same balance works anywhere
- Keep all unused balance

Similar to Roamless by the looks. Very convenient for those who prefer a set and forget approach. The downside is keeping track of the different rates for each country.

Do they publish what networks they roam on in each country?

One reusable eSIM isn’t unique. Most of the main players are now using one eSIM and you just add Global, Regional and/or Country plans (as required) and track those via an app.

Yes, it does avoid wasting (expiring) data. The alternative is the long duration plans, and/or ones that can be topped up and unused data rolls over (again, not uncommon). A good example mentioned upthread with Eskimo.

Yes reusable eSIMs are usual, what the global ones offer is you only pay for what you actually use. You don't need to buy a plan and so there's nothing to roll-over. Keep the account topped up and it's set and forget. A casual look at the rates they seem very comparable. You may be able to buy a plan with better rates but you just lose any data you haven't used.
