Why is it always an "Escape" when I get emails offering travel deals?

Escape from what??

Am I the only one who finds this marketing hype a little bit offensive? That my daily life is so poor that I must actually escape it??

I'd certainly like to escape all the hype! (but would still like to see the offers)

Maybe they think you're in jail!

I must admit, going OS on holiday is an escape from work, and the dog hair (although some of it always travels with us)

Or it gives you a goal to look forward to when you actually commence the trip.

I like escape.

Ha ha. But isn't the most successful escape a one-way journey? I.e. if you escape but wind up back where you started, it wasn't a very successful escape?

Maybe they should say "Escape but with Recapture"? :)

I don't mind it either, it is an escape from everyday life which to me is quite fun. Not that I don't enjoy everyday life but escaping to somewhere else far away makes sense to me.

Nah, just escape will do me :)

I think I upset my mother when we returned from a fabulous 4 week trip from Europe, She said no doubt I was glad to be home. I just looked at her and said "No". Didn't tell her at that stage (and still are) we are planning a six month sojourn in France as soon as we can jig the finances.

Well the word is sure entrenched in travel offers now. I just did a search on my in-box and over 300 emails in the past year had the word 'escape' in them! All from travel companies and one from Corrections Victoria ( - kidding :) ).

No Austman you're not the only one. I love my life and I love to travel, but it's not to escape.

I subscribe to so many travel sites that I have a rule set up specifically for the word 'escape' so that they are moved to my travel subfolder. I'm bored with seeing this word.

Lol.

Or parole or day release.
