Eos Airlines

The relationship we have is very special. You have shown a true appreciation for the commitment and service that defines Eos Class and it has always been our pleasure to deliver Eos Class service to you. The sense of camaraderie and level of engagement we've developed together transcends the traditional airline space.

Our unique relationship makes it all the more difficult to share with you the news that Eos has filed for bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of New York. On April 26, 2008, we plan to operate Flight 6 (8:30pm) from JFK to STN. On April 27, 2008, we plan to operate Flights 3 (1:00pm) and 7 (6:30pm) from STN to JFK. Flight 5 from STN to JFK and all flights from JFK to STN on April 27, 2008 are canceled. We will cease operations entirely after April 27, 2008.

Very sad - that was one airline that wanted to make sure ALL passengers were comfortable!

I flew Maxjet, one of the competing all business Gatwick - JFK. Old ex Qantas aircraft. Truly the best way to fly. Amazing personal space and superb food with great service. Alas they fell before Eos. Although Eos did look a lot flashier for a higher price.

Maxjet, I will miss you dearly.

It just goes to show that all passengers aren't willing to pay to be that comfortable...

Their main problem seems to be that "ALL passengers" was not "enough passengers".

US business-class airline Eos has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and said it will cease operating flights by Monday....

whilst our mate Geoff Dixon expects more airlines to fold in the current industry shake-up but believes the flying kangaroo will come through the uncertainties ahead of the game....(no doubt smelling of roses)

A great pity. EOS was the most luxurious and most expensive of all the business-only airlines (though was really more like First Class). Maxjet was the least luxurious and cheapest. Perhaps Silverjet have got it just right, though it's going to be tough for them with doubts over their prospects. I really hope they survive as it's a great product, but then part of my enthusiasm stems from the very reasonable fares and great value for the customer ain't the same as a great proposition for the shareholders.

Why Eos failed
All-business-class airline Eos ceased its daily London Stansted to New York JFK service this week after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection

I was at JFK this morning, and their aircraft were all lined up, ready to sent off somewhere, for a fresh coat of paint, or a holiday.

The 757-200's were leased from ILFC.
There first flights were between 1992 and 98, so not really all that old.
