Hi,

As per the title, i've now requested an upgrade for SYD-DFW (for 2pax) for 160,000 points.

At this stage I have enough to request an upgrade one way. Qantas says the points will be deducted if the upgrade is successful.

Is there any harm in going ahead and requesting the upgrade on the return flight as well?

I had the same query last month. The points aren't deducted until the upgrade occurs. You only need enough points when you make the request and there they stay. So you can try for return. If you are upgraded on the first flight then you won't get the return flight obviously as you may have then cleared the account.

I have done this in the past, no problem, so yes, request both ways. Good luck!
