So all in, about the same as the sale QF and SQ had.

So all in, about the same as the sale QF and SQ had.

A few differences I suppose:
- More destinations look to be available at the special prices
- The "fly out" date is more restrictive
- It's available now (I don't think the others still are?)
- You earn miles (SQ fare was non-points earning), plus bonus miles for booking via the Emirates website. I think it's a 50% bonus (but I stand to be corrected)

Cheers,

But where? Emirates FF scheme (Skywards) isn't particularly good, and they have very few partners.

I thought Emirates was in kahoots with DJ and the Velocity program, so they share partners that way.

In any case, you could credit the points to Velocity instead of Skywards. Probably the value will be less but at least you have a more practical set of points to play with / build up.

Still the fares to NZ are pretty good, and are still eligible for upgrades using Skywards Miles.

Hi there

Skywards has an Points + Pay offer from AUS-DXB for $600 round trip + 9000 Skywards points.

Might be tempted to spend a week in DXB soon

For those wanting fares to Australia, EK has some good deals from London with a 1st class return for approx GBP3200 ($6600 )

I credit all my EK flights to UA MP which is one of the better *A programs. Only counts towards RDM though, then again I'm not aiming for status on MP so it works out as the RDM might come in useful for something... eventually.

I just booked an EK special for LON-AKL with stopovers in DXB and SYD

Cost for r/t in first (A class) was a total of $6700 . The fare also included the normal chauffeur drive for pick up and drop off at all stops during the journey plus there is now another special deal running such that if booked in business or 1st class, can get 3 nights at a 5* hotel in DXB if deciding to do a stopover. The hotel booked had a normal rate of USD350 a night

If travelling before 30 June, they also have triple miles offer too

Was an excellent value deal

Dave

Thats amazing value Dave ! for F, and F on EK is something very special, much different proposition than the cheap whY fares.

I thought it was a doozy of a fare. Effectively a LON-SYD r/t with a side trip SYD-AKL thrown in as a freebie ( fare LON-SYD was same as LON-AKL ). The cream on top ofthe icing on the cake ( for me ) was that I could also fly from LGW rather than having to fly from LHR.

This fare is quite valid for use on the A380 services too as long as A is available.

What was the J equivalent Dave, much difference?

Kind of bumping this thread but this is worth a mention;-

ex-CHC to BKK return in business class for NZ$3050 all inclusive (~AU$2400) - flying 777 ER though - for travel period 5 June through to 10 September 09.

(Was thinking QF may have secretly matched those fares but its not to be, QF reveals ~NZ$5000 rtn)

On another forum, someone mentioned the following:

"If you can get to/from KUL then Emirates are having a sale from 1,300MYR return to LHR which ends up being around $465 AUD. After looking through a couple of dates on the website ~1600MYR is a more realistic price that is available but that is still only ~$600 AUD."

Has anyone looked into these? Are they related to this current EK sale?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yes and I also looked into seats to AMM for 1000MYR inclusive (to couple with QFF redemption on RJ to Europe). But I left my run too late (indecision on these things is not a good).

I can tell you that both LHR and AMM (along with various other middle eastern destinations) were quite open up to 31 May. Very difficult to find any availability since then - the limiting factor being the return flight DXB-KUL, with most of the lower economy classes showing as closed on this flight, for most dates in the near future. (to be honest I wasn't really looking seriously until 31 May when a similar sale ex-SIN finished, but when I woke up the following morning a lot of the availability ex-KUL I had seen the night before had disappeared (and I might add the booking class changed), despite being on sale until June 30.

Nevermind I have just got back tonight from a $400 SGD SIN-MEL-SIN trip on EK. Only complaint was problems with IFE but other than that OK, and perfectly adequate for $400. Better than JQ via DRW which on the same dates was nearly double the price. And opened yet another FF account, as fares did earn Skyward miles.
