Will be flying both the 777 and A380 in F in coming weeks and aside from the Bar and shower on the A380 is there much product difference and putting the bar and shower aside which do you prefer?

...... aside from the Bar and shower on the A380 ....... putting the bar and shower aside ....

Sorry Ansett, I understand your question is re the seat, etc, but I just cannot let this one go - if you are going all-out and doing F with Emirates, then the "bar and shower" just HAVE to be taken into account!! IMHO they are what makes Emirates F so fantastic.

Every person has their own desires and situation, but I will give you a miniature summary of mine: I have to fly a lot, mostly long haul. Zillions of hours a year. I manage to wrangle most of it in J, but when you do enough hours, even good J is just something that makes a painful thing less painful, but it is still NOT FUN. But when I tasted EK A380 F, I was destroyed from anything else.

Sure, if you stay in your seat, I think the difference between a 777 and an A380 is zero. But that shower and the bar make the trip fun and even LESS like actually flying (all IFE, service, etc is designed to distract you from what is in truth a hideous thing - travel in a tube)

there are many opinions on everything, but for me an EK A380 in F is all good - in all seats. Some people say that row 1 is "too near the showers / forward bar, and the pax traffic will be disturbing". What nonsense!! Those suites are very private and every single seat in F is great.

Is this your first EK First experience? If so, congratulations - this is an experience that so few of us manage to attain :)

+1, the thing about EK F that makes it special is the shower. Which is A380 only.

FWIW i was in the rearmost F seat and found it perfectly private (no noise from galley). I'm sure that varies, but certainly no issue for me.

Hi Juddles

I agree with your sentiments and I only ask as I read that some people believe the 777 is better, in terms of ambience and seat than the A380, they said it felt bigger.

I have done EK several times before on the A380, all be it only on the NZ Run. This trip is Dusseldorf to Dubaii to Melbourne.

Just interested in peoples thoughts.

Looking at seat guru its interesting that the seat appears both wider and seat pitch higher on the A380.

There are pros and cons.

First off, both are fabulous. You are not going to be unhappy or grumbling in any EK F seat.

B777. The cabin is smaller, eight seats rather than twenty. The suite walls and doors are taller, so more privacy. The cabin seems more spacious because it doesn't have the inwards-leaning walls of the A380 upper deck. The window views are better. When they darken the cabin, the roof has little twinkly stars. Awww.

A380. The shower. Even if you aren't having a shower, the bathrooms are enormous. The bar. Sure you share it with the J cabin, but it's a lot of fun. There's a self-serve private F bar. You want to pour yourself a glass of $700 a bottle Paradis cognac, go right ahead..

Swings and roundabouts IMHO. The seats are excellent, the screens wide and well-stocked with entertainment. The food is good - especially the caviar - and the service excellent. Amenities and pyjamas are, well, first class. Both cabins are ultra-private.

If there's one detail that would swing it for me, it's the shower. On a long flight with no lounge awaiting me - or even if there is - the chance to have a shower and shave in comfort before facing the hassle of security and immigration and announcements and duty-free is a winner. I always feel good after a shower, and so often, regardless of whatever class I'm flying, at the end of a long flight I feel gritty and un-fresh. Giving someone a hug and a cuddle when you need a tub isn't 100%.

And the drinks are hot to start with and only get hotter. Epic fail if you ask me.

Forgive me to disagree :)

It is true the personal minibar is at room (plane) temperature. But in my flights with them I have only indulged in the water from there. Why on earth would I be exerting myself pushing a button to access a minibar when I can just smile and INSTANTLY get a beautifully chilled glass of Dom??

Total waste of space IMO. In both F and J, the space could be better employed as secure stowage for reasonably large items. Otherwise I'm left scratching around for space I can actually use during takeoff and landing. Not that anybody seems to mind if I put (say) a camera on one of the shelves.

Couldn't agree more a complete waste of space serving warm drinks and what Coke drinkers drink when Coke is out of stock
