Flying with Emirates Business in September. Usually fly Qantas and love their pj's. Will Emirates supply PJ's for the SYD - DXB night flight? Or will I have to bring my own?

I'm afraid you will have to bring your own. Emirates only give PJs in First.

Thanks JB83, I thought that was going to be the case :) I couldn't find it written anywhere in the Emirates blurb. Looks like I'll be wearing my trusty Qantas PJ's.

Do QF give out pyjamas in J ? Is this something new ?
I've flown SYD-CGK and MEL-SIN and return many a time and have never been offered pyjamas, though the last time was about a year ago, so maybe it is something new. Or is it something that only happens on the 388s ?

From what I have heard and read they still do, a380 or not. Have your flights been at night? Reading some of the posts on this site, I have read that there are flights where they are not automatically offered, but if you ask they do appear.

Yes. I flew QF J at night at least twice last year, once in May and another time in August, both were on QF36 SIN-MEL.
Hmmmmm.

I have a pair of Crew PJ's, given to me after the big up then down grade last year.

Emirates have gotten tight with the amenity kits now. Nothing on daytime flights (I was told no on a JNB-DXB)

Service was awful to add to that. Won't go rushing back to them anytime soon.

Take the QF ones ......make a statement

I will be wearing my QF PJ's in J on Emirates to and from DXB in July and August. 14 hours each way with a daytime flight over (departing 6.00 am !!) and an overnight on the return, I am sure to doze off on both flights and wish to be comfortable. Also, after 14 hours, you must look like you slept in your clothes !!

Father in Law just got off the 100am flight from Dubai this morning. Never been PJ in J, but yes in F. As to service he was very disappointed, good from UK to Dubai, but Dubai to Melb very terrible.

I had similar thoughts about the service as well. This trip was sort-of mandated to use Emirates, so that's what I got to use.

My tip for the long haul leg to/from Australia next time on Emirates is going to be to ignore the food and drink on the plane. Get to their (very very good) lounge early, and eat and drink well. The wine and food are superb in their lounges. Final glass of champagne waiting for the plane to load. Into [self-carried] pyjamas. Then straight after takeoff, put the seat into the bed mode, drop the mattress on, and take a sleeping pill for a good night's rest. That way there is no worrying about service or fretting about the lack of it.

I did this for the first time a couple of months ago on SAA to JNB, after watching my seat companion do the same. I got off the plane at the far end feeling fresh as a daisy which is FAR better than I have ever felt on my other 80+ trips there.

That's probably the best way to do it. Although make sure it's an A380. The 777 seats were pretty average.

I'll avoid all of the middle eastern airlines now. The service is just too variable. I did just a quick SYD-AKL-SYD on EK recently (in J). Flight over was great, flight back awful (including having a flight attendant snap "well why don't I just leave you the bottle" when asking for a top up on my wine - after one glass...).

The only answer: "Yes. Thank you"
