Very true. My bad! In that case I'd go QF if its upgraded A330. If it's not, then EK. But really it'd a battle of sloper seats :-(
No, the new QF J suites are flat, not sloped.

I am looking at July 15th. Anyway to tell if flights on that day have the new seats?
Wise decision or not will be assessed after the flights have been taken but I may not get to try Emirates economy after all if the reports I read on AFF that QF Platinums are automatically upgraded on Emirates flights are correct.
I am one of the ones who have said never even in an Emirates 777 in economy with 10 across seating. But at the same time I am also disappointed with Qantas decision to charge to pre-allocate bulkheads in A333's even for status flyers.
So now comes the dilemma. Planning September trip to Thailand and I am inclined to book Emirates on QF codeshare there and back with very little expectation. Is there a noticeable difference between the 2 configurations? I do quite OK in QF A330 bulkhead with fixed armrest so seat width on Emirates should not be an issue. Only issue would be getting stuck behind chronic recliner but that could happen on either airlines.
Thoughts?

I guess the time would be right to try Emirates. Worse thing that could happen is discomfort for a few hours which can be cured by taking some liquid medicine through the flight.I did QF81 SYD-SIN, re-furb 330, last weekend in Y and yesterday afternoon EK432 SIN-BNE in 10 across 777.
They both were good, the QF flight was probably 65% full, so spare seat next to mine. New interior was a step up from before, IFE was almost much better and the new Y dining was quite good.
You check in at the operating airline's counter. You can visit both lounges.Sorry to hijack the thread, but can anyone advise me if flying on EK metal out of Bangkok on a QF ticket, does one check in at the Emirates or Qantas check in? I am guessing that there would be access to both lounges?
Thank you, much appreciatedYou check in at the operating airline's counter. You can visit both lounges.

Flying SIN to MEL in mid July in J. I have a choice of EK 777 or QF A330-300.
Which would you choose. Having flown the 777 previously I would probably choose it over the A330-300 unless I managed to score the new J class seats.
What are the chances of that?

Silly question, but do you earn QF status credits flying on Emirates metal on an Emirates ticket?? The Qantas site seems to not support this.
That's strange. We did exactly your trip but from Adelaide - (Syd) - BKK - (Syd) - Adelaide in December January 2015 with domestic Q and Emirates J international (and also F upgrade). Chauffeur Adelaide, Chauffeur BKK both to and from airport.
The chauffeur service was only booked through Qantas website. Maybe that's when it went pear shaped.
We are doing DBX trip on Emirates at Christmas. Maybe we should book through the Qantas website. But looking at the Emirates website it allows us to book. Might stick with Qantas.
