I'm off to NZ ...I hope to be out of the country, esp. in the lead up when all the false / fake promises are made. As per usual, I'll be doing a postal vote to avoid the scrum at the local school / church on the day itself:shock:
But this is going to be a clean campaign without elaborate over the top promises :!:I hope to be out of the country, esp. in the lead up when all the false / fake promises are made. As per usual, I'll be doing a postal vote to avoid the scrum at the local school / church on the day itself:shock:
Does anyone know when the writ will be signed? Or did it occur today ... if today, then the above options aren't available to me (except don't enroll and don't vote!)
Well the election has been called and we get to decide who will lead the country for the next three years. Julia or Tony?
I presume this is with tongue firmly in cheek.
As has been made obvious to those previously unaware, you get to decide who your local member is. No more, no less.
I have to decide if I want to re-enroll before the election or not. It's not illegal for me to not re-enroll (at the moment), although I do have the option. Even if I do re-enroll, I don't even have to vote. We have an amazing electoral system!

But if you do re-enroll you will have to turn up and have your name marked off the list. No one has to vote but they do have to turn up to a polling booth.

There is a loophole in the system. I currently fit into that loophole. If I choose to re-register (which I'm not forced to at the moment), I don't actually have to vote.
I'll let you do the research and work out why![]()
For Mal, would it be because you have UK citizenship (and Australian residency) from the period when you were allowed to vote without actually being required to attain Australian citizenship?
I'd prefer either of them rather than my local member. How many people would prefer their local member over either of them :?:
