I'm reading Parachute Infantry: An American Paratrooper's Memoir of D-Day and the Fall of the Third Reich which is written by David Webster of the 101st Airborne. It's not particularly well-written, but it's an engaging and fascinating view from the legendary unit that jumped in behind enemy lines.
The HBO show Band of Brothers follows Easy Company in the 506th regiment and David Webster is featured in the show as he transferred to E Company after they jumped into Normandy.
I enjoy this book because he doesn't portray himself as heroic, and he's always trying to get out of going on patrols which is a reasonable human intuition. But he did return to E Company after being wounded because he didn't want to leave his band of brothers.
