What is everyones experience with getting good seats on EK flights with your QFF#?

So far I've had massive failures, not being able to get any kind of semi-ok seating in Y. I've also noticed there isn't any kind of priority seat selection (based off 5 flights where the CSM would not greet anyone in the 'good' seats in Y, but then proceeds to me and a few others).

And just now I get allocated 40B - a middle seat  and there's nothing else available on the seatmap :shock:

I've only had 3 flights on emirates so far (all in Y) with only 5 over next month. It's been a mixed bag. One CSM greeting and ordinary seats but I don't know if that's because the flights were booked relatively last minute or that I just don't get access to good seats.

I can say one thing for sure though, not a fan of 3-4-3 on the 777s.

I just got off of EK406 and the best seat I could get was 80C - which I must admit was a very nice bulkhead seat. Allowed me to get a good amount of sleep. My previous couple of flights were not so good though. Certainly nothing as good as seat selection available on QF flights as a WP. I also noticed that my seatmate had no status. I've also noticed a lack of CSM greetings in the first couple of rows - with a lot more in rows backwards.

I've never had to have a middle seat though - that sounds harsh.

Having said that, I've had some really nice experiences in terms of CSM greetings and conversations with the staff, along with some special treats being brought my way inflight.

No problem at all when booking well in advance ... I can access all but the front row for a QF code share in November.

Strange experience recently. QFF platinum. Booked LGW-DXB-PER on QF coded EK flights in Y for November (one way). Allocated seats in rows 47/48. First attempt at seat selection further forward appeared to have been accepted OK, but on checking the booking, nothing had changed. Tried again a few days later and change applied OK. May have just been a computer glitch of some sort.

Appeared to get better choice than on QF flights (first few rows on QF usually blocked for CL/P1 only) once it worked.

You need to do it via ek site. QF mbb doesn't usually stick

I am scared. I am looking down the barrel of a BNE-SIN-DBX-MAN and then back via the same route in about 6 weeks. Of course the only flights available now are EK code-shares, and all the A380 flights are booked out or incredibly expensive. And of course I'm flying whY.

So 27+ hours each way in a 3-4-3 777 is not in the least bit exciting me ... especially after reading the reviews that state that the seats and aisles are incredibly narrow and that your feet don't touch the ground when reclined :(

Combined with the flights not getting booked for at least another week, I don't like my chances of getting a "good" seat.

Well done QF, I already hate your merger with EK and I haven't even flown with them yet ...

Do upgrade requests work with EK?

Hope for an oversold flight and you will find there is a very good chance of an op up, the 777s are fine in J, and a nice amenity pack comes with hit.

My fingers are crossed tighter than you could possibly imagine ;)

No prob getting access to all seats through QF manage my booking. Booked on QF codeshare.

Only problem has been that they don't have enough pairs of seats in Business so often have to split up with my +1 !

What are best business seats on the 777-300ER.

Lots of talk here about A380 but many flights from OZ are on the 777.

Flying Perth to DXB in J on the 777 - currently booked in 7AB.

6 is blocked out but 8 (directly behind toilet) seems to be available.

Any thoughts/experience

We arrived 3.5 hours early and had no trouble getting exit rows. The seatmap & EF had been showing them as being occupied. Possibly EK's propensity to OpUp it's elites?
We enjoyed the A380, but Y service was minimal - one drink run in 3 hours. No choice for wine & $18 a glass for fizz. And there was only one Heineken, one Bud & one light beer left in the trolley by mid cabin. Not sure what the male CC actually do except stand around and look important.

I'm booked on a QF codeshare on EK metal to SIN in November and can happily select Aisle Bulkhead using QF.com
Well that is a very useful piece of information.

After flying this (I was moved from th preallocated seat to one in business:p) I checked out the economy cabin.

For those long legged ones - the centre row 23 (DEFG?) 773 seats have a unusually large amount of legroom - much more than the bulked seat in the front row of economy.

Love that EK Op Up goodness.

I'm Qantas gold and I had 3 flights with Emirates in Oct/Nov with a QF flight number, (Adelaide-Dubai-Newcastle then Barcelona-Dubai) and had a personal greeting by the CSM after taking my seat. No problems with seat choices, only the Barcelona-Dubai flight was full so I had a spare seat next to me on the other two flights. Adelaide-Dubai I was right down the back where the arrangement is 2 4 2. Like others I'm not a fan of the 3 4 3 layout.

Both flights into Dubai I was given fast track immigration cards even though on the flight over I was only transiting. I stayed over in Dubai on the way back and this was greatly appreciated as the queues for immigration were quite lengthy at 2am and I was through in a matter of minutes.

Got some similar flights booked for next year, so far I've been able to pick seats that I want, except on the 380 out of Sydney to Dubai, with the 777 flights I'm again right down the back. My wife will be with me so I won't have a spare seat next to me......

I've also had several trips to Scandinavia via Singapore with Finnair and on each occasion the seat I requested was changed and in all cases the flights were full. I also had an issue getting my points allocated. The 340's out of Singapore are getting old (or maybe it's just me getting old!), I also find the seats uncomfortable. Again each of these flights was with a QF number. The lounge in Helsinki is nice though!

Flown Ek Twice once in Y from Dubaii to LHR and have to say after that flight vowed never to fly EK everagain. NO CSM, no amenity pack, no Noise cancelling headphones and found the cabin to be way too open.

Second flight was EK First and well lets say I will avoid flying QF First again and look for the EK flights they seem to have premium cabins down pat unlike QF.

EK first was SENSATIONAL in terms of service food and drinks and ofcourse that shower is sensational :D

Flew PER-DXB-MAN, flights very full, no upgrade, no csm visit, no amenity kit, nothing special at all.

I hate the 777's and I advise avoiding row18, as there is little leg room due to row17 having its IFE and table using it

Y flight SYD/DXB: requested exit row at the check-in (not granted). Free operational upgrade from Y to J (at the lounge). Awesome!
Y flight DXB/GRU: requested exit row at the lounge (granted); visit from the CSM. No extra special treatment.
Y flight GRU/DXB: requested exit row at the check-in (granted); no visit from the CSM. No extra special treatment.
Y flight DXB/SYD: requested exit row at the lounge (not granted); no visit from the CSM. No extra special treatment, not even an express card...

Was my experience in economy on EK too DXB-LHR however they did they save themselves when I recently flew first, couldnt fault them. Will be interesting to see in January what happens when I fly DXB-LHR in Y as a P1

Had my first flight with Emirates on weekend, and while the scenario below may not be typical, my experience was ultimately good.

Booked through Qantas, J return leg from Singapore to Melbourne on the 777. Through the P1 team they reserved me 6K (blocked on Qantas site). Held through to the day (checked on expertflyer and QF site, but did not attempt OLCI).

Get to airport and am given 6E (middle of the 3-seat centre arrangement). Queried why, was told there was no block or reservation on 6K (fail P1 team) and a passenger who got on at Dubai was booked into 6K. Was advised to raise it in lounge. I got the impression such seating changes can happen frequently with EK.

Went to QF lounge to ask for assistance, and also contacted P1 support team. Neither could help. Polite but of no help. Will post more info in other relevant threads.

Then went to EK lounge. Got a 'nothing we can do now, J is full' response, but an offer to look again closer to departure. I didn't push, but an hour later I am found in the lounge and given a new boarding card and an upgrade to First class. Very pleased, obviously, but also with the follow-through and response.

On board service and seating were outstanding. Didn't seem to know I was P1, but got personal greetings. One misstep with drinks service but otherwise perfect. Was told the F suite on the 777 is identical to the 380, whereas J and Y are definitely inferior on the 777. But I cannot confirm.

While it may be because I queried the re-allocation, I may also have received an upgrade anyway as a P1. I wasn't game to ask. If it was a genuine upgrade, kind of ironic given I have never received an upgrade on QF, but 1 from 1 on Emirates.
