My partner has been invited by one of his European suppliers to attend a Trade Fair in Frankfurt, his host has generously offered to pay for one rtn First Class fare for my partner and two rtn Business Class fares for two of his staff and has asked us to choose either Emirates or Singapore Airlines.

Having only flown J class on either of these carriers we aren't sure which would be better in First, particularly on the A380. Have you flown either? What was your experience like?

In which city do you reside?

If you are keen on the A380, then (from SYD) flying EK will give you a longer leg on that aircraft. Neither airline flies the A380 to FRA. Both flights are around 23 hours in both directions, but SQ is marginally (1-2hrs) quicker.
On SQ, you fly 8hrs 25min on the A380 SYD-SIN
On EK, you fly 14hrs 35mins on the A380 SYD-DXB

If you reside in MEL, then SQ would be the way to go as they fly the A380 between MEL-SIN.

Personally, I would prefer EK on this particular trip because:

  • I prefer the 1.15pm arrival time into FRA, rather than the 5.35am arrival time on SQ.
  • EK offers First and Business seats on the entire upper deck. SQ has First on the main deck.

  • I also like the complimentary chauffeur service that EK offers. (Maybe SQ does too, but I am unaware of this)
  • Geezzzzzzzz, I nearly forgot about the showers on the EK A380, that might be the clincher!
