Hi all,

I fear the answer is probably a no, but figured I'd ask.

Starting to look at burning a bunch of QF points on a RTW F ticket. Start and end point will be PER.

Is one allowed to book EK flights with a QF flight number as part of such an award ticket? Looking at a way to get home from South Africa. The obvious would be BA back to London, but that's a rather long way home even in F! I believe Qatar doesn't fly F from JHB to Doha to Perth. Figured EK probably does. I guess another option might be CX (although no F from Hong Kong to PER). Think I'd rather avoid MAS.

Thanks

David

EK is a qantas partner and therefore not oneworld..........so you are correct the answer is NO

You might want to try Royal Jordanian and SriLanker airlines....not sure if these are searchable on line (recent booking for Royal Jordanian we did on the phone)

I just finished planning an Aone4 for next year and definitely no Emirates appeared as Qantas code shares when using the oneworld planner - I wasn't expecting it for obvious reasons but kept an eye out in case they appeared as an option.

Thanks. I suspect it is going to be a phone booking too for this one, so never know.

From the bit of research I've done, it actually seems quite limiting in terms of where one can go due to not many F flights. BA seem to fly F to enough places though, so hopefully South Africa and Israel will be on the cards. Obviously North America too. Out of curiosity, where are you going?

We did a South African leg in 2012 when it still had first so I share your frustration - it was nice to be able to go F to South Africa with Qantas and then F to London with BA!

Next year we are going CBR-SYD-LHR with Qantas then Venice with BA (CE of course not F). Then we join a cruise run by Military History people and go to Istanbul and Gallipoli and back to Istanbul. Then a week doing a few bits in Turkey (Ephesus, Permukkle and Cappadocia) then BA to London, off to Lakes District, BA to New York pick up a show, AA to SFO then AA to Lax and Qantas home.

Off on Safari tomorrow and we are going F to Nairobi wit Emirates (Qantas codeshare) and then do a side trip to South Africa with SAA - could have done it direct with Qantas and then a sidetrip up to Tanzania but I wanted to go F.....

EK is not part of oneworld and can't be used in an XONEX. There was a bug (one of many >_<) in the booking tool that was showing QF codeshares on EK. They disappeared about a week later.
I had a BA caused misconnect at DXB last year which ended up being EK trying to fix on the ground (BA and CX wouldn't pick up the phone), when they got through to QF in SYD, the QF agent rebooked me with a 24 hour delay. I asked about using an EK operated codeshare to fix the problem (the airlines have broken the ticket rules before to fix problems) which would have also avoided having to rebook the next flight. The agent refused.

It's definitely possible to construct a RTW itinerary using a mixture of EK and OW flights. It will however price and book as separate Classic Partner Awards and not at 420K F One World award cost
