EK Lounge General Discussion

This is incorrect. See following.
If travelling on an EK flight number and the QF WP has their QFF number in the booking then they have DXB First lounge access (with guest*) regardless of the class of travel.

* guest travelling on the same flight.

Do you know if the flight has to be travelling to a region within the QF/EK alliance (ie, not the Americas or South Africa)?

I just made a QF reward booking on DXB-CPT and it has an EK code. I know South Africa isn't within the alliance, but the blurb on the QF website implies it's the location of the lounge, not the destination, that matters.

Eligible customers can also access Emirates Lounges across Australia, Europe, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East when flying on eligible Qantas or Emirates flights with a QF or EK flight number on your ticket.

I only need access in DXB, not CPT/JNB, as I'm flying to LHR on BA when I leave South Africa.

I really cannot say as I have come across no experiences.

I do know that a QF WP/SG cannot access an EK lounge in Oz before a QF flight to the USA.

That would indicate to the negative.

North Africa is under the alliance but as you say, Southern Africa isn’t, so you might get turned away. I’d presume the flights depicted on this network map give you lounge access. Anything else technically may not.

I'm thinking/counting on EK DXB lounge staff not really caring about the intricacies of the deal, and also being on EK metal they probably won't look too hard. A bit different to the EK lounge in SYD that has to turn away the masses of QF USA pax, or an EK lounge in the US that knows its not part of the alliance.

I just noticed with my QF number in the booking, I can select preferred seats for free, which should normally cost AED110.

So it seems the EK IT system doesn't exclude my situation.

We are flying EK SIN - DXB - FRA next weekend. It is an EK Business sale fare so no EK lounge access. No real problem as the lowest J fare that gave lounge access was $A1500 each more than our fare of just under $A5000 for the 2 of us.
Not worried at DXB as only 1.5 hours transit. So the only possible problem is at SIN. Mrsdrron has her QF number in the booking and she still is WP so I am assuming we still get access to the QF F lounge in SIN. Is that the case.

She (and thus you) should get access at all all of those ports (SIN/DXB/FRA) in EK & QF lounges (J&F) - not oneworld obviously.

Codeshares are only required for QP members.

Unfortunately all reports say with the EK J saver fare you will not get access to the EK lounges. It is a condition of the fare.
And QF's lounge policy says that outside Australia only P1s get EK lounge access if on the EK code.

I thought this table implies WP/SG on EK ticket at Partner lounges?

That is incorrect. Qantas SG, WP, P1 and CL all have EK lounge access before an EK Marketed flight on QF or EK metal when travelling between and/or within South West Pacific, Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

The also have the same access when travelling on a QF Marketed flight on QF or EK metal.

Doesn't that just mean you have no access based on cabin, which is separate to access based on status?

Makes no sense if a Y pax on a much cheaper ticket still gets access (which they do)

Since @mrs.dr.ron is WP, the only thing I can think of is bad advice given by a Qantas CSA .

If WP status fails, just buy access to the J or F lounges. What else are you going To do with the 100mil in super? ;)

Have an access question in relation to Sydney EK lounge. I am travelling on a Skywards award in J on QF metal SYD-HND (QF25).

Obviously I get Qantas J lounge access; but is it possible to use the superior EK lounge? I understand that Korea and Japan are outside the partnership but thought as it is a Skywards booking I might be able to.

I have an upcoming QF flight on EK metal from MEL along with Mrs Rebus and two children. I am QF SG meaning that we will all be able to access the QF Business Lounge. However, I would be interested to know if anyone thinks that EK will allow all four of us into their MEL lounge? I am aware that officially I am only permitted one guest for an EK lounge but wondered how strictly that policy is enforced.

Thanks in advance

Which is your favourite child (if your guest your wife and other child into the QF lounge first)?

Hi guys I’ve got an international qantas flight in J departing from MEL early 7.30am next week. Previously I was able to access the superior EK lounge departing from melb due to being in J.
Questions for the group
1) is this still the case ? I am reading it as yes, same as precovid.
2) also confirming EK lounge is open 3.15-6am
3) Anyone actually went recently ?

What is your destination? I asked above but didn’t get response on whether you can use it while travelling to HND on QF.
