EK comp upgrade for QF WP rate?

When the bromance between QF and EK started, there were plenty of report of QF WP's receiving complimentary upgrades on EK flights.

How is this situation these days? Still occurring or the honeymoon period is over now?

I've flown EK 12 times, some flights in discount Y, some flights in the most expensive J fare bucket and never got an op-up. There must be something wrong with me considering some AFFers have reported an almost 100% op-up success rate on EK...

Too late to the party I'm afraid. EK upgrade on fare paid before status for more than a year now.
Might be the odd Rainbow Unicorn make an appearance but be prepared to travel in the class you booked.

Too late to the party I'm afraid. EK upgrade on fare paid before status for more than a year now.
Might be the odd Rainbow Unicorn make an appearance but be prepared to travel in the class you booked.

Great..CPH>DXB>SYD whY. Their timing suited me better than venturing back via LHR on QF.

And this being my first journey back as WP, was hoping for some EK love.

Will post back if any of them unicorns show up. ( My 5yr olds favourite t-shirt says on it " A unicorn made me do it")

Yes, EK's policy was that when there was a need to upgrade pax - which happens a lot, because EK overbooks to a big extent - then priority for upgrades was determined by EK/QF status. So a plat would get upgraded before anyone else. Now, it's changed so that the person travelling on the most expensive ticket gets first upgrade.

But it was reported on FT last month (seemingly credibly) that EK platinums had been restored to the top of the upgrade pecking order.
It's maybe too soon to see if that extends to QF plats, but here's hoping.

It certainly isn't happening on the Trans Tasman but maybe that's that flight. It only happened on apparently overbooked flights in Y and that seems routine in the ADL - DXB service being the only daily service there not into Asia.

I had an upgrade last year or the year before on my first EK econony flight.

Every EK flight since has not been very full so not expecting any upgrades there.

I've done 4 sectors on EK in Y as a QF WP, including ADL-DXB and return, and have never had an upgrade. I don't remember getting any recognition at all in fact.

Well, I had ticked over to QF WP before commencing my return from Europe with EK, but the EK boarding passes only showed Gold...still got access to DXB first class lounge though.

Received a fast track card on-board, but i must say - this was my first ever trip on an A380 in Y (bit privileged upto now!) and I was super-impressed by EK.
