I posted this question before but did not seem to get any response. It is worth another go.

Is it possible to use Etihad guest miles to book tickets on any other airlines? I am trying to use my points to get a first class one way or return between April August to Europe and it seems impossible except for using the any seat option at about 6 times the normal rate.
Thanks for any help.

It's possible you may have left it too late to get any availability hence why the ASA is the only thing available.

Thanks for that. I actually started looking back in January but with no luck. There seemed to be plenty in March that was just about the end for the year as far as I can tell. I was a bit disappointed that I had transferred quite a few points from Amex to make up the amount I needed which I could have used with Qantas and Virgin for domestic travel. Not quite sure what I will do with all the points in Etihad. I earned the biggest portion of the points on 2 First Class trips to Europe last year and I am not going to use the points for economy tickets even though they seem to be generally available. Done my time down the back...too old for that now.

You can cash the points I think...have a good look on their website...as there are options for other ways to redeem points. You would have been better in hindsight transfering the points to VA, as the Etihad availability is quite good (even now)
