Due to circumstances beyond our control, we must make some immediate changes for a short period of time to our available information and how it is displayed. This will result in the following changes to our service until further notice:

* Inability to view QF Z and U inventory
* Inability to view seat maps for BI, DI, JM, KE, KM, LY, UP, and VH
* Inability to view the booking class a fare code books into on US domestic fares (Premium service only)
* Flight Details will not show miles of the route or meal codes
* Comments will not show in Flight Status and the loss of estimated times, gate and baggage claim information for some airlines
* Fare Information will now show only one-way fares if only a Departure Date is entered. It will also show round-trip fares if a Return Date is also entered. (Premium service only)

We are working to restore access to this information as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience while we work through this temporary situation.

Sincerely,
The ExpertFlyer.com Team

Wonder how long a short time will be :)

I wonder what caused the issue in the first place, you would have thought that you ask for seat availabailit from an airline system you would get it but it maybe that they are having to do more than one query to find some seat types like U from QF.

OT... QF seat U (business award) is the seats you can book in advance of 24 hours as an upgrade or just a straight award flights ? ODU upgrades i assume can come from other buckets since they are just upgradeing non sold seats correct ?

Correct... U is business award for both Domestic and International flights. With domestic upgrades, they book into U class as well. i.e. See U availability and you have a WHY booking on the same flight (not N, O, Q) and you can upgrade immediatly. AFAIK, U is also used for International Upgrades as well; however any such seems to occur after the 24 hour window to request such upgrades has closed (& Business awards for that matter) so can't be accessed.

My guess is that they are in the process of renegotiating access to one of the major GDS - probably Amadeus. Until they finalise those negotiations, their access to that system has been suspended. But that is just my guess and may not reflect reality :p .

Yah, That's my best guess too.

EF had access to a certain GDS and for whatever reason cannot access that GDS at the moment.

They have access to a another GDS which shows most of the current information (but also doesn't show other information they did show).

Hence what we are seeing right now.

I would like to assure everyone that we are working to achieve access to QF information "the way it was" prior to this latest interruption. It will take a few days, perhaps a couple of weeks, but it is in the works and it is our plan and desire to restore it the way you previously experienced.

We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Thanks for the update. I look forward to the QF information being restored. I find ExpertFlyer is a very valuable resource for me.

NM, Agreed, just saved me hundreds of dollars (or rather the company) and me a 10 hours top over in an airport i didn't want to be without lounge access.
Allows me to keep or corp travel people honest, or rather point out better for me options, they are really just over worked rather than no good at there job. When they really want to they can always find the BFOD, even if it is double the distance and with stopovers overnight all to save less than the hotel rates for that night !

Another manifestation of this problem is that EF is not showing main Deck J seat maps in 744's. Upper Deck rows appear (11-18), just no rows 23-26/30.

Just checking one flight now and 11-26 is showing , just that 11-18 map shows as 2-3-2

What a dull post for #2000 :)

Must have been the JetStar high-density seating plan version of the 747 upper deck :p .

Happy to report this bug has been fixed. You can now see all the seats in J on the 744. Thanks for your patience while we sorted things out.

We are now over a month since losing visibility of Z and U for QF flights. This is one of the major reasons I subscribe to EF. Any info on when this will be fixed?

I joined ExpertFlyer using a discount code kindly given to me by NM. My main use for EF is to look at award inventory on SQ (which EF does NOT show), and likewise for QF. I now rely on making dummy bookings on both SQ's and QFs website to look for award availability....I personally don't have a lot of use for ExperFlyer now...:( Just double checked, T class, which QF gold and platinum members can utilise for reward redemption, appears to be unavailable as well....

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Seems that EF is now giving X availability - random check (after a mate had asked me re a fligth this weekend):

QF 759
0 SYD
11/03/07 02:25 PM ADL
11/03/07 04:05 PM 734
Su J2 D0 I0 B9 H9 W0 K9 M9 R9 L9 V9 S9 N0 Q9 O0 X9 E0

The award availability wa confirmed on a dummy booking on the QF site.

IME, X has generally been shown even with the recent issues; what it's not showing several classes including premium award/upgrade (T, Z & U).

I is another class not always been shown. (See "I" availability the day before an international flight and that upgrade is very likely to come through).

I have to agree with you kpc. I am somewhat frustrated that SQ availability in D shown by EF is not what my travel agent is seeing, which makes the tool less than useful.
Is it the case of EF resulting, at least for SQ and QF, in the "Unempowered Frequent Flyer"?
