I think it depends on what you buy.

In my experience they are usually very similar.

It does, and I suppose it varies by store and state. Our coles must be the expensive one :(

For some completely unexplained reason, Vitabrits irks me... woollies has them for $4.59 a box, coles (right next door) the price is $5.05.

People local to me swear that Coles is cheaper. I think I really need to do a comparison on same products. Coles is more convenient for me to visit. We'll see.
It won't be the same for everyone.

I find Coles has some good specials one day and Woolworths has some good specials on another day.

I find something is on special one week at WW, then Coles and then at IGA.

Or buying at better than 50% off specials at whatever store offers them is my preferred for most staples. A large walk-in-pantry (aka bulk storage!) allows great savings. That and a separate freezer.

So I'm not alone with that strategy :)

Motto: 'If it's not on special then don't buy it!'

Why not stock up the next time they are 'less than half price'?

The last time we paid full price was 2010. Although I miscalculated how many were left on the top shelf of WIP - counting the days until last packet runs out (so must be a half price special coming soon...).

We had a family divide up until then. I preferred Weetbix and the mob preferred Vitabrits.

Once the half price specials started (so price even below generic brand versions!) I slowly converted. It took a while but to me the VBs always seemed to tastes 'dusty' vs the WB.

lol - that's what I do! Can get them for $2.45 at woollies 'half price'. But I needed a packet to tide me over till the next offer. They were however on sale at coles last week, but $3.

but Coles is more expensive :( Specials aside - we have Coles/Woollies side by side - Coles is cheaper on some dairy, but is up to 80c-$1 more (per item) on other products.

I guess YMMV, but pocketing the savings in a piggy bank each week would get you the fastest seat redemption of any program world-wide!

If we do our "average weekly shop" at either of the two stores, Coles always costs more.

Have shifted most of our shopping to Aldi since I heard about the rumor at the start of the month that QF points will be a thing of the past at Woolies. Still go to WW for specific brand items or if a decent offer is available but this will stop if the QF point option vanishes.

GG.

Are there specific products you see a difference with or is this an average?

Our Coles shop seems to cost up to $20 a week more when buying the standard items we need each week. Some items more expensive, some cheaper, but overall it costs more every time.

Dad - 500 bonus points for $75 spend
Brother - 500 bonus points for $100 spend
Wife - 500 bonus points for $100 spend
Me - 500 bonus points for $120 spend

Dad has 2 offers this week. The offer above and a we miss you offer. If Dad spends $75 this week are both offers achieved?

Buy on rumour, sell on fact?

500 points for $100 spend.

Will use and combine with my recent shareholder offer of $10 off $100 spend.

You can claim 2 or more everyday rewards offers on the same transaction provided you use the correct card, meet the right targets and fit in with the expiry dates. A $75 transaction would qualify for both the $75 offer and the $50 offer(I'm just going from memory here on the target for the other offer).

500/$120. Nope. Got a 1000 bonus points on $70+ spend at Coles this week instead.

Might be heading back to Aldi for a few things, though.

After getting lots of ridiculous offers ($275 for 500 points) I put my card to the back of my wallet and have been scanning the kids cards. Today I received an offer of 500 for $75 spend - much more realistic!
