Eastern Airlines returns with a rebrand

During its heyday, Eastern Airlines was one of the original big four USA domestic carriers, before folding in 1991. This January, it is returning to the skies, beginning with a route to Guayaquil, Ecuador out of JFK. It’ll also serve Georgetown, Guyana and Jinan, China.

 
Didn’t it have a (relatively short lived) return as a charter airline (including a trip off the end of the runway at LGA)?

Like the various other poorly-run (Mk II, Mk III, etc) incarnations of classics like Eastern and Pan Am, I can't see this one surviving long either.
