Well from about tuesday evening or wednesday until Sunday i have a choice of bumming around home... tempting but i would prefer to do something, see something... (March 26-30th approx)

Anybody seen any interesting flight specials (OW) that may be of interest in this time ? I thought about Longreach, but amazingly booked out. Maybe thats the case with everything, no discount fares around.

I am open to just about anywhere at all, inside or outside Australia.

Tough gig around Easter... ex MEL you could do a mini SC run; fly in J on QF187 tomorrow for $55 and return Monday on JQ35 in *class for $270. There's 80 SC's.

Other than that CBR may offer you the better option ex MEL for Y WHY travel.

You do mean $455 ??? not $55 ?

I looked at the JQ *class flights... its a pity there is not enough time to do a ..
MEL-BNE (QF), the BNE-SYD and SYD-MEL and MEL-SYD, then finally SYD-MEL (QF)

If you really wanted an SC run i thought this could be done...

Mon day
QF404 MEL-SYD Y $152 or a later fligth in J $453
QJ29 SYD-MEL $270
QJ3 MEL-SYD $270
QF459 SYD-MEL Y $192 J $453

J - $1446 = 160 SC = $9.04/SC
Y - $884 = 100 SC = $8.84/SC

Costly status run... but it is getting out of the house thats the object, to avoid work :)

But i sort of had an idea i may use my hilton $99 stays or something like that since i have a 2 to use in the next months.

Sounds like my Easter Saturday run last year. On Good Friday I was extremely bored so that evening I booked myself some very reasonable D fares ADL>MEL>CBR>MEL>ADL.

Late breakfast in the ADL QP, lunch in MEL with seconds on MEL>CBR, afternoon tea in CBR and a quite nice dinner on the MEL>ADL flight.

At the time I was only drinking soft drinks which devalued the experience somewhat, but a FA on the CBR>MEL flight gave me an almost full bottle of a quite respectable red to take home. In fact the cabin crew on all four flights were great (helped by light loads no doubt) and made it an enjoyable decadent day. The SCs got me to gold which was useful as well.

I am thinking about it... must make a decision soon :)

But what i was really after was the flights for later in the week and next weekend. I know if i have time off i will just be tempted to work sitting at home with no family here and most of my local friends away this easter.

Just a shame there is not many decent fares at the moment :( ok well they are the cheapest J fares but still expensive.... I am still hundreds of SC away from Platinum at the moment since i have diverted some flights to AA that did not earn well in QF. But my renewal date is end of July so plenty of time and still some whY international SIN-MEL and similar to go.

I have planned a DONE4 was justa about to ticket after firming up the dates, and put it on ice to wonder if i woud be better booking a AONE5 since i want to visit South Africa and see a few things liek Victoria Falls. But this will end up maybe starting June but only on the leg to the UK and i will stop it there until later in the year.

Random ideas - been to PER before? Not bad place to spend a weekend (i am from there originally) and not a bad way to blow some QF points on upgrades.

Or, skip over to NZ for a long weekend?
Finally, a quick trip down to tassie could be a goer as well...

Random is good :)

I have been to Perth, i like it but i so often can come to or from SIN that way its better to do it then when the stop over costs nothing, or the boss is paying ;)
Tassie i have not done recently. Could be good just for a quick weekend away. If it wasn't school holidays i would love to renta nice car down there and just drive :)

See what happens when i have too much time on my hands.

Evan,

Did you actually go somewhere or did I miss it :?:

The Warbirds Airshow at Wanaka NZ was really good if that's any consolation :!:

But i have a date with the skype and the AA or CX office i think today and tomorrow ;)

The warbirds show does sount if it would have been good, i originally thought longreach, but school holidays or whatever i could not see any decent fares that worked for me.
