Easiest way to keep kids' QF points from expiring

Hi all,

My kids have FF point balances a few days away from evaporation - what's the easiest way to add some points?

Can I sign them up for their own Woolworths cards and link them to their frequent flyer accounts - is there a minimum Woolworths transaction that triggers a point transfer?

Or do a similar thing for petrol purchases?

I've had a good look around the forums but much of the advice is years (in some cases many years) old so I'm a little wary of it. I'd be grateful for your ideas/suggestions.

Thank you,

SBD

You'd need 2000 everyday rewards points for them to transfer to QF. Easiest just to transfer the points from their accounts to your own.

QF ff points evaporation usually happens at month end. But your risk

Have a car and near a BP petrol station?
Sign the kids up for BP via QF. Then buy $5.00 of petrol for each of them and swipe the QF card. In my experience credits quickly.
At BP you can earn and use Qantas Points, making it a perfect stop for rewards.

Simply join BP Rewards and scan your Qantas Frequent Flyer card at the counter to be rewarded with points every time you fill up with fuel, grab a snack or pick up the essentials.

Plus, you can use Qantas Points on your purchases in-store or via BPme. Each time you select to use Qantas Points, you’ll also be able to earn on the same transaction - making it even more rewarding.
About 2 years ago was at BP petrol station and person ahead of me did 3 off small BP-QF transactions, with partner at the bowser. She apologized for the delay, but I told her was OK as knew what she was doing.

Edit
Old article.

Need a minimum balance to transfer
Clear in the QF web site that transfer does not extend expiry of the account points are moved to.

Transfer the minimum into their account and then transfer all of them back to yours.

For example, if child has 2,500 points, parent transfers child 5,000 points and then child transfers entire 7,500 back to parent.

If you transfer the points to your account, they will take on your expiry. So if your points are active, they will remain. If your account has no other activity and your points are due to expire, then the transferred points will also expire (ie, the transfer does not count as activity for the receiving account). So yes, moving them into your account will save them as long as your account is active.

The OP has not said how many points there are, they quite possible have enough to transfer. And if not, can transfer some of their own in, then the entire balance out.

To clarify, sending points to the children will not prevent expiry
Sending the childrens' to your active account will extend
If child balance<2000, i use conga method. Parent to child 1 to child 2 (to child 3 to child 4 etc if required) then back to parent. This only uses up one of your transfers
