Earning status credits on award flights

Are status credits earned on QF award flights?
I didn't think they were but recently took an award flight in Jetstar Star Class and was credit with miles, cabin bonus and status credits. Is this a mistake by Qantas?

Generally no.. You might be lucky. It's happened to me before, but that was many years ago...
