Earn points on Bank Transfers

Hmm… just got a notice that Citi are closing my prestige card account. No reason given. Suspect this may be it 🤷🏾‍♀️
You got me worried because my family members one has a big one scheduled , and the card is unused other than that

Mmmm "materially detriment our reputation". Cause you also got the NAB cc approved recently right? (I was just complaining on the NAB thread how ridiculous approval is getting).

I did. Month or so ago. Still open, along with one other NAB card
 
This is interesting. I was going to apply for an NAB card this week but you are speculating that this could be a red flag to them.

Who knows. Wouldn’t think so. No issue with the other cards. Only issues I can think of are the payall and high priority pass usage. Annual fee on the card is due in about 30 days (and that’s the notice period they gave, but have actually closed it today).

I’d suggest getting any points out ASAP. I can assume the few I have remaining are gone (fortunately not many).
 
Sounds like we're not getting the full story here. I suspect there may be more backstory to this. If instant account closure with no notice and forfeiture of earned and banked points happened for no reason whatsoever, you would be a LOT more annoyed than you seem to be and probably hiring lawyers.
 
Had your account been settled? ie you're payall's been repaid. Couldn't imagine them closing an account in debt.

Don’t know what more to add. It’s a credit card 🤷🏾‍♀️. Can’t say I’d be running to get lawyers about it being closed. I’ll raise an AFCA complaint if I can’t get a decent answer.

Yep. Next one was due today so balance was zero.
 
It's a premium, top-level credit card you're paying for the privilege of holding. It would be beyond bizarre for it to be cancelled with no notice and no explanation unless something has gone on with its use you're not revealing for whatever reason. It's equally suspicious that you're not very much more upset about it and just looking for possible answers in their T&C's to find an explanation. It sounds like you were half expecting this situation because you know how you've been using it.

I think your experience is unique to you only and does not reflect more widely on the rest of us with similar cards who have perhaps not gamed their system to quite the same extreme as you have. Just surmising with no evidence, but maybe they ran an audit that highlighted the customers who were the least profitable to them. ie. those who were maximising the benefits to an extreme, while at the same time carefully avoiding all costs and charges, and have simply decided to 'off-board' them with extreme prejudice.

Yeah, settle down 🙄. Card has been used as described. Similarly to how plenty here are (one payall a month, no other usage). Why would I be “upset”? And more so, why wouldn’t I look in the T&Cs for possible answers? Where else would one look? It’s a credit card. I’ve got far more important things in my life to trouble myself with.

As has been alluded to above, it seems very likely that NAB are not honoring the PayAll scheme setup by Citi. Hence my suggestion that everyone who’s been using the card for this and this alone considers moving points out of the program. I believe I had maybe a few thousand sitting there. They may still come back, may not. I’m not losing sleep over it.

20k a month in PayAll. What are the rest doing? Hence my suggestion above. I suspect your assessment is correct. Wouldn’t be the first time banks have done this.

Those doing 20k a month have not generated points totals with two commas.

Let's just say that I do have a few direct debits (all small amounts) to charities, and I would use the card once a while, just so my statement is not just 2 transactions of 1 Payall debit and 1 payment credit. Doing a Payall with no other usage is just too obvious.

So the fact that my last Payall (this month) is being reversed is also making me a bit worried.

As a data point I had a payall transaction go through last night ok.
 
I find it disturbing that when a poster reports having their account suddenly closed that the mob mentality of this forum is to attack the poster and accuse them of misconduct rather than criticising the bank for a lack of transparency or, at the very least, not jumping to conclusions rapidly. Why side with the bank over a consumer?

I've had accounts closed before doing things within the T&C. They just didn't like it so used the clause to close it on their own account. I got compensation from the FCA in each case. Systems are there to be gamed!

I just went in to check, it is still listed in the app, recurring monthly until 2025. This is head scratching.

I don't know if this would be a good idea. Personally, when I am gaming the system, I always stand below radar. I have personal friends who are not as close to radar as I am, but they are not exactly earning Citi money, so I would not want to rock the boat even when I'm disqualified from the game. Making a complain often brings attention back to the complainant, leading to the complainant scoring an own goal. Example: having their whole relationship checked, and maybe leading to even more disqualifications.
 
It strikes me as odd that Citi would go to the trouble of updating the fees for PayAll transactions if NAB was going to do allow with the facility entirely.
