My passport is completely randomly stamped... Oz immi on the page closest to the photo - sometimes, China on the page opposite the visa, Japan in neat segments on the same page, HKG - anywhere and the US across the center in the middle of any two blank pages they can find...

I find that customs officers overseas try to stamp the passport sequentially from the front pages. The Australian customs officials could not care less where they stamp the passport so these days I hand the passport back asking for a stamp on the page I want them to stamp it.

The stamps in my passport are absolutely all over the place. The front, the back, random pages, and the page next to the chip page... no sequence or anything at all, from any of the countries I have visited so far. I wish they stuck to some sort of order so that I can keep them as a form of souvenir (or memory jogger).

But worse still, even whether some countries stamp my passport at all seem to be rather random (unless they are indeed keeping to some kind of procedures that I have yet to figure out).

I'm sure the procedure is, that there is no procedure.
