Spain has their own built in Daylight saving all year round by operating on continental European time even though most of the country is west of the "Prime Meridian".Ahh, reminds me of Spain this summer (winter here). Same sort of thing. Works. ...
It's even more pronounced during the European Daylight savings period with the Sun rising in Madrid at 8:06AM and setting at 8:06PM during the recent equinox.
Their summer solstice was on 21st June with sunrise at 6:45AM and sunset at 9:48PM.
Compare this with Rome with 7:01AM and 07:00PM for the equinox and 5:34AM and 8:48PM for the solstice.
During Spain's most recent winter solstice, the sun rose in Madrid at 8:35AM and set at 5:52PM.
