Spent more than 2000AUD on economy return to Tokyo and upgraded to premium economy, got dirty water dripping half the trip, especially during taking off, almost called flight attendant as it is like burst toilet pipe upstairs, later I was told it is just condensation water while it is dirty. Filed complaint and got offered a lounge pass as compensation, it doesn't cover my cleaning cost and rejected, then that is the end of the story.

I also got a free lounge pass expired by Nov.26, message me if you have a trip which can attach it, I will stay away whenever possible based on past two Qantas experience.

FWIW I had something similar 10 or more years ago on NZ. Called the fa and was shifted to a J seat.

This has happened to me and others on lots of other aircraft and airlines.

I've used their blankets as an umbrella in the past.

When you filed the complaint did you ask for a specific $ amount to cover the cleaning? Otherwise it can be a bit hard to determine ‘what’s right’.

I also upgraded myself to Premium Economy on QF25 a few months back and noticed a thick layer of dust on the panel above the windows but no condensation, so perhaps it was the same aircraft (VH-OEJ) and the water is now mixing with the dust...

Assuming it was the Friday 22 November QF25 ex SYD (photographed today), then it wasn't the same aircraft. It was VH-OEE.

Condensation from the aircon is sadly a standard feature of most aircraft, especially if they've been to places like Singapore. But, it normally isn't running down the overhead bins, but rather it comes from the vents.

How far forward was your seat? The forward part of the PE cabin would be near the back of the upstairs galley.

Last row of premium economy, middle aisle seat

I came across something similar on an old United 767, the flight attendant made a joke that it was United's new in-flight shower service. (I'll stick with Emirates if I want a shower on board, thanks! 😂)

I also noticed quite a thick layer of dust on the interior of the overhead service panel in J on VH-OEJ a few weeks ago. That plane really needs a thorough clean.

I had water dripping over 20 years ago on a Singapore Airlines flight - got moved to staff seat for take off until the drip stopped. No upgrade or compensation there and the person in the seat next to me sniffed Tiger Balm for hours.

Dripping water over the years has been common IME.

The best one I had was a large section of the overhead base including oxygen masks fall down as the wheels left the ground at takeoff. This was late 80's on a CO flight out of GUM. The FA asked me to stand up so he could shove it all back in. It was my first experience of the historical over use of OMG.... the poor lady seated behind me didn't handle it very well.

Given that you're nowhere near the upper galley, it would pretty much have to be condensation. I've seen it literally pour out in some (unfortunate) cases.

I had this on a 747 (QF6) some years ago, after an extended stay at the gate in SIN. The water definitely ran down along the overhead bins as we took off, and there was a real cloud of condesation as well, as the a/c cut in. But it only lasted a few minutes, not all trip.

Had it happen over a decade ago with maybe several litres of fluid pouring down from above into the aisle beside me on takeoff (the old QF2 when it was a morning tag flight SYD-MEL).

I was in Dreamtime seats (sold as economy) just under the upper galley.

I don’t know of any locations that are the worst. I think it can probably happen under any a/c vent. It looks like a swimming pool’s worth, but I’d be surprised if it was more than a litre.

The coughpit on the 747 (and 767 to a lesser degree) had a different issue. The condensation used to freeze on the frames surrounding the windows, and during descent, it would melt, and you’d have your own personal rain shower.

It had been a very humid SYD morning on the QF2 flight I mention - the water was coming from the "roof" over the aisle.
