I have been going through the CBR QP quite regularly lately and there appears to be a tightening of the drinks rules at the bar.

Some bar staff have been enforcing a rule that says 1 drink per person per order. I typically take two drinks back to my seat as i have bad arthritis in my leg which makes it inconvenient to walk back and forth, and as i often travel alone, it makes life a little easier. I was told by the first barmen that its an ACT rule, but i know this is not the case under ACT RSA. It seems to be a local rule enforced by barstaff. QP front desk say they dont know why it is being enforced and that they are receiveing numerous complaints regarding overzealous barstaff. It has happened to me 3 out of last 4 weeks, and it has never been an issue at any other QP i have passed through. I never typically have more than 2 drinks when travelling, so i am not out to get hammered, but thats what RSA rules are for anyway..

Anyone know the official line? FWP i know, but would be nice to nderstand what is going on.

i got restricted to two per person in Perth - I wanted a red and white and a beer for son but had to go back for the beer. It would have been obvious that it was a round for three people - three different drinks. Of course, i could've been tricking them cos I'm a sad alco and was going to skull all three myself. Ditto Adelaide - 2 per person; a red and white OK

PER QP bar staff also follow the one drink per person per order

From what i can tell WA RSA requires that. Its not the case in other states or territories that i can find

Is this still the case when the bar staff get to know you?

My greeting in SYD and BNE is if I want my usual drink. No problems getting 2 drinks.

Why can't we just change all the laws to put the burden of proof of any damages due to alcohol on a drunken person and scrap RSA?

Never had a question asked of me at SYD, BNE, MEL ar ADL about drinks. I order two no questions asked. Its only at CBR and only just recently. Just wondering what has changed.

On a side note in ADL its often table service i am getting used to

Not true about WA RSA.
It's what they feel like on the day in PER QP.
I first struck the 1 drink per customer rule in PER about 2 years ago, and it's been utterly random since that occasion.
And certainly not 1 drink per customer in PER J QP
