Booked a return JASA for 2, Mel-Hobart a while back. The flight back is on a 737-400, which IMO isn't worth going J in. So I'd like to downgrade to Y for the return leg.

Can I do this, and get a points/$ refund?

(It's mid July)

Thanks

You would have to get a refund then rebook, frankly it's unlikely to be worth it.

There's really not a great difference in the seating between J on a QF 734 and on a 73H.

You still have greater pitch than most of economy and better width (The inner armrests move closer when in 2x2 mode giving additional space.).

The service would be the same - and you'll still get those 60 SC's.

Isn't it 40?

Unfortunately, my counter clicks over to zero a couple of weeks later, so not too fussed about the SC's...

I've had a few issues lately with a refund for a JASA even though the reason I had it refunded was because of schedule changes on Qantas' part. It can be a big hassle. You've probably considered this already but what about changing the date of the flight, so that you take the same route but on a different trip (preferably in your next qualification year)?

Can't. Going down to MONA, staying at the Pavillions, dinner at the restaurant... will be a great weekend. Would've been perfect if it fell a day after requal... but I don't think my better half would let me shift the weekend on that basis

What sort of issues? I refunded one last night simply to change my flight to a later time and it was quick, easy painless and (when the points return) worked just fine :)

JASAs can be instant or take weeks, for some reason it all depends on who you talk to, and changes can be dangerous as well, with quite a few reports of people having JASAs changed and finding out its a classic now, the QF people just dont get ASAs!

Not sure when your flight leaves but I must have been lucky, only had a 737-800 HBA/MEL when I do a status run.
HBA Qantas flights always seem very full. I think you will be grateful to be sitting in J, even if it is a 737-400.
