Downgraded from business class-AGAIN[Flight Change Revoked]

Downgrade. No doubt about it.

This is starting to become a regular occurrence.

What would you call an op-up at check-in reversed to an economy boarding pass at the gate with a "Take it leave it" to go with it? Yes. A downgrade. It is irrelevant that are you back in your originally booked class.

The same can be said for processed points upgrades to higher cabin. Once that boarding pass is in hand it is a downgrade.

Really disappointing.

Sounds like my experience last thursday night of having a BP for 2D and being handed a BP for 9D when boarding for load and balance reasons on a dash-8 (so not a downgrade as such). Get on board to see someone in 2D. Outright lie from Qantas ground staff. I was extremely annoyed about that and I'd be annoyed about being lied to as per the OP.

Having J boarding passes and then have the airline try to hand you Y boarding passes is an attempted downgrade.

Now that would piss me off. Budget did that to me once and it's been over 20 years since I've hired their cars.

Don't lie.

There is value in telling the truth.

Downgraded from business class - AGAIN

Correct. The op flew on his ticketed flight in his ticketed cabin.

Seems your getting hung up on the end result and ignoring what actually happen. OP had business class boarding passes. Qantas then down graded them to economy. That fact is not changed by them then being offered business class seats on another, significantly delayed flight. They were moved to an earlier flight as a service recovery measure because of the delay. Then downgraded and then the service recovery was completely undone. That's just a little bit like a fiasco.

If QF had called you up and said hey, sorry, but more important pax rocked up after you and requested your seat so we bumped you, the threads on here would be wild with outrageous accusations about how QF doesn't value your money and why is your money not the same as the next guys.

Well, no actually, I wouldn't have been. I would have preferred the truth - "We gave your checked-in, BP issued, seats to someone else who arrived later - So the alternatives are, you can go in Y (downgrade) or wait 3 hours and travel J"

As an AFFer I understand the need for a hierarchy and IMHO, revenue pax are above redemption pax.

What an absolute load of cough... QF are dammed if they do, dammed if they don't...

I disagree. There is no point lying to customers who know exactly what's going on. It's better for QF as a business to be criticised for it's actions rather then the integrity of it's employees.

Offered economy class seats on the new flight after holding business class boarding passes.

That is a downgrade to me.

Where in the OP does it say that QF offered them tickets in Y for the earlier flight? Sorry John but it doesn't. QF moved them forward in J to the earlier flight, but then bumped them back to their original flight still in J.
Unless the definition has changed, they were not downgraded. The thread title is misleading as the real issue here is the way things were handled, as the facts are that the OP flew on their original flight in the cabin they purchased.

Sorry Medhead, re-read the OP. There is no mention at all of Y in that post. QF moved them back to their original flight.

My apologies too. I didn't mention the offer of Y on the earlier flight until post #3, after being asked for a clarification by post #2

Not in the OP but mentioned a few posts later.

That is one of the most disappointing things to read in these threads of late.

Delays do happen. Downgrades do happen. Yes mistakes do happen. But the handling of these issues has been poor. Unacceptable.

You'd think that would have been in the OP if it were that important. The fact it was added later opens up credibility issues IMO.

If we were to go by the updated information, they were offered two options, the one taken is not a downgrade, hence why I have been harping on that the thread title is misleading. Nothing on here has changed my opinion on this.

Hmmm, I can't see any believability issues with the OP....

QF coughed-up - simply as that.

I agree with you.
I'm not saying that QF handled this very well (they didn't) or that I'd have been happy about it were I the OP (for the record I wouldn't).

It was not however a "Downgrade from Business - AGAIN" and IMO the title is adding to the bear pit mentality that's prevailing on AFF right now against QF.

OP in my post means Original POSTER

I'll remain satisfied with having read beyond the original post, and having managed to get to post 3. You should try it some time.

No; 2 x J redemptions
Was offered 2x Y seats on the earlier flight and told they weren't great seats. With a points refund.

Strange to attack credibility when you've made what about 15 posts in this thread without having managed to read the second and third posts. :?:

I agree with you.

Yeah, perhaps we better stick to simpler matters.

I am not arguing the fact that the situation wasn't handled appropriately, however there are two things to me that stick out. One being the title is misleading, the second being that the options offered were not part of the OP.
