Double Status Credits Virgin Australia Activate by 10th Feb 2023. and Travel by 31st March 2023

Side bar - do we know if the DSC is linked to the PNR of the booking ?
Yes, though you wont see any reference to it being linked. Only when it posts to your activity.

Normally some people elect to screenshot they have activated the offer in case of the DSC's not posting..

I suspect you are very close to the money (or lack thereof).

Regardless it doesn’t matter if it helps a couple of AFF members who fly VA2 to get across the line to Gold again! Myself included.
The timing actually isn't off from previous years.

If your comment is true and applies across the board, Qantas have had financial woes too running such promotions.

For anyone thinking about a status run, there are some ideas here. (Sadly for those in the west, the best deals on a $/SC basis are pretty much all on the east cost.)

I think MEL-SYD-MCY for $446 one-way in Business (or $405 using the promo code CDX47), earning 220 status credits with Double Status Credits, is pretty hard to beat during this promo!

I assume this is one of the special corporate booking thingy yea? Not the general public ones?

@oz_mark - Thank you!
That's a standard discount for the AMEX Platinum Charge card. There are some companies that have a partnership with AMEX Platinum Charge card and you can get a decent discount on them. I usually prefer to book directly with Virgin but I had a $450 travel credit from AMEX PLatinum sitting there so might as well use it for my status run and get 10% discount.

You could cancel to travel bank at no cost and then rebook a lower class fare.
Yes but already confirmed upgrades to Business. Only difference would've been able to buy flex and use points to come back. Just bad timing!

Activated the offer this morning and my flight was cancelled and rebooked tonight. Will be interesting to see if I now get double SC's.

Why not book this as ADL-CBR return (choosing flights via MEL from the options that come up) rather trying to confuse the VA website's terrible multi-city tool? :p

It only wanted to route me via Sydney from memory.

Good call - might book it as it’s about $900 (one way via Syd and the other via Mel).

Well, this is pretty good timing for those of us who just got a Plat status match across from Qantas . What's a 'good' way to get HBA-(close to) BNE? :)

Was looking at this, but ended up going for OOL as there is a lounge. Ended up being $442 for the same 220 SC. Is there much quiet space at MCY to set up and work for the day?

Just flew VA out of MCY on the weekend: nope. It's tiny. A couple of food shops, a newsagents, and a bar around the edge of a single hall with a mix of food court tables plus those uncomfortable airport row seats that look like they are padded but aren't. I think you've made the right choice there for what you're doing.

I passed through last month, not many options. If you've got enough space between flights you're better off heading to the beach.

I did spend sometime at the glasshouse bar at mcy last time I was there but it's nothing special, I guess the novelty is that you can sit outside (airside) with a drink if it's not too hot/rainy. You wouldn't want more than an hour to kill though.

Same sentiments here. Currently Gold, but will drop to Silver come 11/02 ... so this DSC is good timing and I also have work trips coming up before 31/03.

I suspect it is not linked to the PNR of the booking as such. I might be able to make a booking without adding my ff details and later key in my ff number to benefit from the DSC offer.

If you are after quiet/quality time to work , then there is no decent place at MCY. Been there in Nov 2022 and even for an early flight , the airport was crowded and difficult to take any calls without background noise. OOL is a good choice , at least you get to sit at the lounge which is also at times crowded.

I've just booked a couple of CBR-ADL return trips in biz for Feb/Mar (one CBR-ADL in Y as I didn't need any more SC's for plat). Cost was $471 each way (vs $170 in Y), but had I been able to travel in the 2nd half of March it would've been $371. Them's the breaks, but at least I'll have renewed my plat membership.

Oh, and if the choice of destination was OOL or MCY, I'd pick OOL any day, as from experience, I think the VA lounge there is pretty good, especially the food and drink offerings in the afternoon, and it has a nice view across the airport (but it can certainly get crowded).

Hi all, i was 40 status credits short of retaining gold, have just cancelled my adl-syd flight in late feb, after activating the offer, credited to travel bank, and rebooked in business under a new PNR. Assume the new PNR, but paid via travel bank should be pretty safe as far as receiving the double SC's? I'm travelling on 26th, and review date of 28th, so want to be sure

I've screenshot the activated deal as well

Same deal ,myself, had a J booking, cancelled it with the ease & convenience of VA's Travelbank system & rebooked.
Was $100 extra, but the extra SC's worth it.

I agree with @antycbr that get more bookings in now before IPO sometime after March, smart business move really.
VA recently ann they will post a PROFIT this financial year, 1st in a decade, so they doing reasonable well.
