Double Status Credits Virgin Australia Activate by 10th Feb 2023. and Travel by 31st March 2023

IPO could be the reason, drags in cash in a quiet time of year.

Yup, Jayne needs some cash.

Forward bookings must be soft.

Good for me, I can just scrape my way to gold again for peanuts (no incentive to get to VA2 platinum anymore, no point).

Funny they went for a fly by period instead of a book by one. This is clearly a short term booking stimulus.

Good to see DSCs are back though.

No DSC offer in the app for me sadly 😢

You can login to your velocity account online and it's pretty much generic offer , available to all.

Does it mean , it will work for any prior bookings as well and travel between the dates specified ? cheers

Is there any amount of cash I can pay you to have you not "scrape" your way back into VA status, and perhaps spend your time over on the Qantas forums instead?

I don't know why you come here so frequently just to trash an airline you clearly don't enjoy flying with.

And you've been doing it for a number of years now, it's almost like you've made a career of it. One has to wonder, are you on the Qantas books? It's the only logical explanation I can think of - because most would have moved on by now.

Thanks for the heads up! I couldn't find it in the app but found it here: My Offers

Already retained plat but will use the SCs towards gifting a gold membership.

I think most have their review date set to 28 Feb, so if you take the offer up in March that'll go towards your next year

I'm planning to do ~400SC in March through this offer soon after my review date, which is halfway to WP renewal :)

I don't see it on the VA website on desktop. I have logged in. May be it was a targeted offer? I still haven't checked my iPhone app yet.

I think you can register the offer but defer any bookings till March just in case if gets over booked or they decide to withdraw the offer.

It is definitely not targeted for sure. I was able to login online for my partner and register when it showed up in my app.

What would be the downside from their perspective to make the travel-by date a year in advance? Because that would very much incentivise me to pay now for flights in October or December, in order to improve my requalification chances next year.

I agree. Especially if they are after a cash injection. It could just be combat low loads in February and March, or maybe has something to do with Bonza.

I'm not an accountant, but based on how it works in my day job, presumably they can't recognise the revenue until the flight is flown (because flights can be cancelled etc). The fact that the money might be sitting in their account isn't relevant from an accounting perspective.

Here's a link to the page on the Velocity website, which is now (finally) live:

Will the cheeky booking work on this? Got some travel coming up, but can't book tickets yet ....
