Any vouchers purchased during the double status credit offer will not earn double SC :(

Work for Qantas or not, that's a big call. The voucher clause was inserted into the T&Cs a day after the promotion started, and yesterday Qantas were still sending out emails with no reference to voucher exclusion, and a very simple definition of eligible flights. See here

Considering Qantas changed the T&Cs mid promotion to specifically include them, I think that's a brave statement to make:

Flight gift vouchers purchased but not redeemed for an eligible flight booking during the promotion period will not earn double Status Credits.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Working for Qantas doesn’t mean you know all the ins and outs because here on AFF we always HUACA because we know we frequently get different responses.

I’ll give a data point for a flight being done next week that will be booked as a deferred booking most likely today.

So who will redeem a voucher first I wonder?? I guess that will be the telling time. (Oops, edit, Pushka replied when I was typing, so that may be the one!)

I found out quite a bit that I didn't know and all my ideas were finally shelved with me just going the Business Rewards avenue.

I was going to do the comfort seat concept, but I couldn't buy a comfort seat through Business Rewards so the "saving" in fees was largely annulled by the loss of the discount.

I was going to not fly direct, but the connection went from being $22 dearer to about $500 dearer, overnight ... on all dates! That scotched that idea!

Of course vouchers became more problematic than usual, so that was shelved as well.

I'm a bit disappointed all round, :( but at least I'll requal WP again :D

I can't count the number of times I've had to correct call centre agents on various procedure and the ability to do things they didn't know they could.

Also, given your insider knowledge, would you care to explain exactly how they are going to exclude vouchers?

It would be good to get some type of insights if you have them PenguPenguin.

Out of curiosity I purchased some vouchers during the promotional period, I redeemed 1 during the promotional period for travel on 15/2 and will redeem an other this afternoon for travel on 18/2. I will provide an update on vouchers within the next couple of weeks. If the voucher redeemed outside of the promotional period does not earn DSC it will be interesting to read all the complaints generated here about QF changing T'S and C's etc. As another member stated just buy a ticket.

I am somewhat amused as how a DSC offer can turn into a general voucher discussion.

The question is: What is the "promotion period" during which vouchers must be purchased and redeemed? Is it the purchase period or is it the redemption period. Or is it both? The only other mention in the T&Cs of the "promotion(al) period" is in the last sentence where it's clear that it refers to the redemption period:

If you change or cancel your initial qualifying booking and/or travel is completed outside the promotional period, this bonus offer will not apply.

Im just a pleb in QF lol, but i do know a lot about how everything works and the loopholes, i don’t make big decisions, im just a normal guy whos interested in aviation lol.

It depends how the system determines eligibility, im guessing previously it was just based on PNR creation date, which is why vouchers would have worked. They may have updated it to check the date of issue for the FIRST ticket, and also PNR creation date.

The notes on our QF board say they won’t work though. But im just a pleb so don’t quote me.

But sometimes tickets can take weeks (or even months) to issue, so that wouldnt work. We booked HNL in September last year and didnt get a ticket till December.

That's amusing. The voucher discussion is generated mainly by 1) Qantas changing the T&Cs after the start of the promotion, and 2) ambiguity in its T&Cs.

If I hadn't observed how hopeless QF has been in these sort of things over a long period, I'd reckon they might do it on purpose.

As blackcat20 pointed out, I doubt they'd be able to use ticketing date as an indicator. I can make a First Class booking during the "Book by..." period, but not have to actually ticket it until (in some cases) up to 60 days afterwards. Similarly, I can make a standard booking through QF's website for a fairly simple itinerary, and not have the ticket process until a number of days or sometimes even months after.

If that's the way they seek to implement it, then best of luck!

Could you share with us what the post says? Is it a note just about the DSC promo or the Voucher/DSC issue specifically?

Similarly a TA can create a booking with a PNR but not ticket it for days / weeks if they need to.
Isnt there a book now pay later option where you may $100 deposit. I assume that wouldnt ticket until you fully pay.
