Double Status Credits (book by 5/2/18, fly 12/2/18 to 20/1/19)

I'm looking today/tomorrow at booking Sydney-Auckland in March to ensure my 4 status legs (November 30 status yr date so adding to one international last December and a return LHR booked on Friday for the DSC) - and because it's time I took a look at New Zealand. I can book for any time in March or April. I saw the earlier assurance that Jetconnect will count as a Qantas flight but also note from the SMH that there are changes mooted in March following reduced Emirates coverage of trans-Tasman. Wondering what are the implications for travellers of the changes - aside from Australian pilots being rightly pissed off by the Qantas retention of NZ pilots on the route - and whether therefore I should book early or late in March/April? (Apologies if this a question better put to another thread but for me it emerges out of managing flights to take advantage of the promotion. Ok to direct me to correct thread ).

I wouldn’t be worried at all Jetconnect flights will definitely get DSC as part of this promotion provided they are booked within the promo period.

Hoping to get the last sector sorted onto that QF codeshare which would bring SCs up to 1400 and add ~$150 to the price. (yielding around $2.19 per SC)

Flights must be QF operated and marketed to get Double Status Credits on this promotion. Though of course a QF flight number on an EK operated flight would earn standard QF status credits whereas e.g. an EK flight number would earn none.

If I buy 2000 of vouchers and my flight is 4500 at the time , does that affect redemption with DSC?
Also are vouchers person specific? If I buy is my husband able to use and still receive DSC. Both of us are registered

Vouchers are essentially bookings without any flights in them. Just an empty container. These vouchers are person specific, though you can ring up the airline to do name changes with restrictions

Better to buy the vouchers in the name of the person travelling.

Why do you want to spend $2000 on a voucher? Why not just $50

Read up thread - there is contention as to whether flights purchased using gift vouchers are eligible for DSC. I believe they are. Gift vouchers without any flights attached are obviously not.

When you redeem a gift voucher online you can change the name. I’ve done that several times. No need to call to do that. Credit vouchers can only be used for the passenger they are issued for.

This is indeed correct, EK marketed and Operated DXB-CAI nets no SCs whereas QF marketed and EK operated DXB-CAI in Flexible Business (C & J class, the fare I mention in my original post falls into the C class fare bucket) nets 110SC without any bonus.

I probably should also clarify, the rules for the CSEG fare Ex-CAI does allow for one free stopover, however if you are traveling on the QF codeshare for either the CAI-DXB or DXB-CAI sectors, a stopover in DXB is not allowed. You have to be on the EK flight number to have a stopover in DXB. It is for this reason I selected the EK flight number for the first sector outbound. It isn't a deal breaker for me, but ideally I want to get the return DXB-CAI sector rectified to a QF marketed flight. The "mistake" is with the travel agent, as they couldn't get it to price with the last sector on QF. It is being escalated, so hopefully it can be all sorted before the deadline of 5th Feb.

Yes it is an error, the glitch with BNE-CHC is well known and previously discussed on AFF.

Well two one-way domestic trips tend to be priced exactly the same as a return so you can use vouchers up very quickly if you want to on “one-way” trips.

If the Gift Voucher generates a PNR, and the DSC are linked to when the PNR was created, then provided that the PNR was created 1-5 February 2018, and the segment(s) flown 12/2/18- 20/1/19 (i.e., within the promotion period), then it remains to be seen whether DSC are awarded/not awarded.

That’s great, thanks Kermatu. I’ll retain gold with the LHR longhaul so SYD-AKL will do. Have to add I’m also keen to see Queenstown so that might be a December treat to feed into next year’s status.

Yes the contention remains but I believe it will be ok - so long as purchase and redemption of flight gift vouchers occur during the DSC purchase period of Feb 1-5

"Qantas Customer Services" will send an email to the recipient's email with the 6 letter booking reference of the gift voucher

To redeem a gift voucher:
go to the same above link, but in this case click "redeem"
Enter the 6 letter booking reference
And go from there..

Alternatively on the Qantas.com.au Home Page in the main window where it says:
Book a Trip, Manage booking, Check in, Flight Status
Just under "Flight status" there is a link to "Redeem gift voucher"

In the future if you sent a gift voucher but cant find it in your email:
Search for Qantas Customer Services
Or if you know the 6 letter booking reference search your emails by the booking reference

I posted in another social group but of the vouchers I purchased, one email did not arrive. Luckily I grabbed the PNR and am able to redeem it but when multiple are purchased it’s easy to not realise that one is missing. Grab that PNR.
