Have not checked recently but apparently the status chaser calculator has not been updated for a while.
The Status Chaser Calculator has now been updated! Looks like BNE-BLT-BNE is the best status run in the country at the moment.

And unless I'm mistaken, the taxes and charges for AKL-BNE-PER are less than those for AKL-BNE. That's a bit strange.

Couldn't find where that occured, but what I have noticed with the specials between AKL and PER is that it costs the same however you go. Via ADL, MEL, SYD or BNE the cost and taxes is the same.

I dont think the SC earning is correct for the post-May scales (at least based on some output - WLG-ZQN is not 20 SCs!)

In most cases, the airport charges are exempt for direct transit passengers, so the point of connection will not affect the overall charges. Its the multiple fuel surcharges that are going to be the largest portion of the extras bill anyway.

There may be some errors in there (I had to add a heap of indirect routes last night) but I think this example is correct. There are no direct flights AFAIK, so the price on the Red-edeal gets you WLG-CHC-ZQN. Two sectors, 20 SCs.

Having reconsidered this, my theory is that the international deals from NZ exclude taxes and charges for any international sector, but include them for any Australian domestic sectors. Therefore AKL-BNE-PER and AKL-BNE are similar, with the only difference being the airport charges.

It is coming up with some more interesting routes now. I like PER-SYD being routed via Devenport)

 forgot about indirect routings with 2 flight numbers

Hi Steve,

Thanks for updating the SCC but during my analysis of status runs I have noticed an bug/anomaly in Qantas list prices that isn't reflected in your SCC.

Requesting a trip from SYD-SYD giving 40 status credits returns the following result
  • SYD to ROK, costing $156.00 and earning 20 status credits.
ROK to SYD, costing $157.00 and earning 20 status credits.

    Total cost $313.00, earning 40 status credits, @ $7.82/SC

As far as I could see the $156/$157 price does not exist when trying to select flights. I have tried a lot of dates in October and November and the best I could find is $184/$186. These prices give a significant difference in $/SC calculation to the one in your SCC.

I think the SCC should be displaying the correct airfare but it does not seem to be easy to detect unless you manually search for flights like I did.
  • SYD to ROK, costing $184.00 and earning 20 status credits.
ROK to SYD, costing $186.00 and earning 20 status credits.

    Total cost $370.00, earning 40 status credits, @ $9.25/SC

I hope I am wrong but I have seen this bug/anomaly in many other routes as well. It seems to happen when there is no direct flight to the destination and the price listed is almost certainly the direct route price (which off course is not available) if there was a direct route.

Well I might have some work in QLD after SYD so I might be able to hit Plat be the end of year now. I think MLB-QLD is 30 SC's one way so 60 SC's return a week will be handy.

I think the benefits of getting Plat is pretty substantial so I'm going to go the extra mile (excuse the pun) to get it. :)

Regards
Daniel

Hmmm, I think (MLB) Melbourne Regional, Melbourne, Florida to (QLD) Blida Airport, Blida, (Algeria) is a bit more than a 30 SC run :D  ....
