I got this exact same email/offer 50% SC bonus yesterday.

I'm struggling to retain WP, my reassessment is at end of Feb 2012. I am about 60% way there, and should be 70-75% with known future flights planned or already booked. This bonus my tempt me to go a run or 2 :D.

Excluding the recent HKG double status offer, I have missed out on all other offers this past 12 months.

Thanks for sharing that, MrHyde. It makes it clear as to what was offered. I hope that you can make good use of it.

I made use of a QF double status credits offer last February, and am hoping to get another some time soon. If I do, I will probably put some effort into maintaining WP, but if not then it will lapse to SG in May.

I haven't even flown a single QF flight in my current QFF year as yet. However, I'm giving VA a go in the meantime as a result of the recent status match, having not flown Virgin for about 7 years. I now expect to maintain VA Platinum for the following year.

so the only way to get looked after by QF is to stop flying QF?

poor form Qantas, not that i need it, i have qualified for Plat in 4 months and no hope for Plat 1.

a simple gesture would have been nice

Qantas have been doing this on and off for some time. It is just one of the things they sometimes do for folk that look like they are going to fall short. Another variation on the theme is that some have been offered 50SC for their next flight.

So the offer is part of the process of reviewing where people are prior to their renewal date.

You are asserting that their is some sort of individual assesment and review built into there system for people falling just short:?: Sorry don't buy it for a second. Mrs maninblack and the kids have several times just been a few SC's short in various categories and we have NEVER recieved any such offers.

Well, re read what I said carefully. At no point do I say they do this for everyone that falls short.

Qantas does do this but not for everybody, they look at the customer rating and decide to incent those who they feel it's worth incenting. For what it's worth, my first such offer was in 2001, I have also had the opposite situation when my son was born resulting in a hiatus for travel for a year, and was comped SG requal with 100 SC and no prompting/emails asking future.

I am aware of the qualification that you made and I still don't buy it. Nevertheless if you have direct knowledge or evidence from an impecable source that they do this, then okay. It must be a fairly random or potluck process which is of course the source of some of the irritation being expressed here. Me, I don't get irritated because I have come to expect very little from Qantas and they never fail to deliver upon my expectations.

Or maybe this, perhaps?: It is just one of the things they sometimes do for some folk that look like they are going to fall short.

Or maybe not.

Can only give anecdotal evidence, but as an example here is a thread from 2004: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....gram/exclusive-status-credits-bonus-5226.html

I've been a bronze for couple years, Q targeted me about May last with double status points offer, took it up and went gold easy with low points any seat trip, now in my new year once again already racked up 300 SP, so with 2 trips coming up be SG again, maybe Plat. No one really knows why only some get offer, but when it does arrive its a big bonus.

Febs, are you saying that you received a double status credit offer?

If so is it the Hong Kong only offer? Or a more general offer you received?

Received both. Wording is the similar to the e-mail posted one page back.

Cheers,
- Febs.

I wouldn't mind the double SC offer.

Should I ring QFF and see if I can get it.

Has anyone been able to get it after ringing them up.

I seem to be in Qantas's good books!

With 900 status credits accrued but a total of 1200 required to acheive platinum by 31 Jan 2012, I received a 50% bonus status credits offer on 15/11/11 (as well as epiqure & double points offer on 16/11/11). I went on to book a flight to San Francisco via dredded LA in Jan 2012 to make up the difference, Today with 1040 status credits accrued, my current status is platinum with reassessment to occur 31 Jan 2013.

So managed to retain platinum with 1040 status credits not 1200! Thanks Qantas.

Need a poll to see who got it and who didnt.....

For me, this random and inconsistent splurging on some members but not others (and I include the very rare times I've been lucky enough to be included as well) is probably the single most annoying thing about QFF - at least VFF had some clear-cut and transparent criteria applied to their offer (which they rolled out to everyone in the end anyway). I don't even mind the spotty award availability in comparison to this.
It has gotten to the point where these double SCs offers are a joke. Not that I can use them anyway as my travel is already booked through to April 2012.

Huge difference between halving the qualifying level for Platinum, Gold or whatever status you are after and 50SCs for your next flight.

One thing is quite clear though. Double SCs promotions are not a reward for loyalty....

I have accrued 1310 SCs in my current year and it looks like I might fall shy by less than 50 for platinum status when my flying year ends on 28 Feb. Too new to all of this to know if that is a reasonable accrual considering it is all domestic, but if feels like a fair bit of travel for me.

Haven't had an offer of double SC though. So it's a mystery to me how these things are determined.

BTW, thanks to the wisdom of this forum's members, I have a plan to make the last few on my first ever SC run;)

Annoys me a bit, AJ said that frequent flyers would be rewarded for sticking with them through the strikes etc and it doesn't look like we are going to get anything.

Disappointing, have quite a bit of self funded business class travel next year and was hoping to get Gold for when I travel Y+ (which is more expensive than other airlines bloody business class from Perth)

Does make you question why I stick with Qantas for there are plenty of options out there, just wish they would give everyone the double status credit off or nobody!

Wheres Red Roo, they should be providing some sort of feedback on this matter.
