Re: WP for the first time ever

That would make sense with the experience MrsH had.

sutho58 what row were you able to select?

Finally now the myth is busted can we refer to what was formerly known as emerald city as the sapphire shed? :p
I would not necessarily state that - the available seating for SG/PS can vary with individual flights. In any case I'm happy to nominate any SG in row 13 as an honorary WP for a day :p ...

it's ok serfty,, i'm happy as an SG.. 2 flights booked for may/july next year.. row 13 on both flights..

Re: WP for the first time ever

Not sure where it's been mixed up, your original post said WP can only do advanced seat selection on DOM flights (which i was correcting). as a SG yes you can select seats in emerald City, but up until T-80 you will find the first 2 rows blocked off. It's generally the same for each class too.

ahh... so it's just the first 2 rows in wa*#ers paradise that are "reserved" for WP and WP1??

which is the best business seat for non wa*#ers, anyone know??

Following your lead I would say the best business class seat for you would be in economy.

More seriously I would think any E or F seat would be decent as you don't get people stepping over you.

I do wish we could all go back to civilized posting.

Re: WP for the first time ever

wouldn't that be nice Simon??

some civilised discourse about frequent flying and how to enjoy it..

TBH i really don't think there is a bad business seat.

BTW can we stick to our usual abbreviations? I'm with simongr on that one. Also it's common that the front of J is called emerald city.. many of are plats, or WP's but most don't live up ti the "W" in the name.

I think it depends on how you are traveling. If I'm on my own I certainly prefer the E & F seats for the reason simongr pointed out. If I'm with MrsH I'm probably more likely to go for A & B or J & K. (The side storage is handy.)

The A380's are very quiet and as a result voices are very audible. I try to stay away from the galley/toilet areas.

As nlagalle said all of the seats are pretty good.

thanks for the replies,,

back on topic, , does anyone have an idea of how many wp/wp1's there currently are in qf??

I suppose that when you look at it from a marketing perspective , it has It's merits,, qf sell more seats to those people who may not otherwise have chosen to book a flight during the offer period,, for those people chasing status,, qf again wins out as they are more likely to burn qf points which would be sitting on qf's ballance sheet as a liability with a monetary value,, so for qf,, a win win situation,, as far as lounge access goes? I can't rember the last time I was in a full lounge other then Brisbane some time ago..

TBH I have noticed lounge overcrowding at all in the last 2 years i've been in the j lounge. If anything it has gotten quieter at peak times. Never have an issue of a seat in the SYD J lounge (dom). INT hasn't been an issue but then I do far less OS travel than some on here

I'm a newcomer and I find it hilarious that there are designations like PS, SC and WP.

How do you think I feel with only 126,000 miles in my entire life... :(
My flying has only taken off (pardon the pun) in the past few years. Before that, it was probably only 20-40k per year, and that was mainly MEL/SYD-PER returns a few times a year (I'm from PER but live on the east coast these days). These days, my friends say 'drewbles goes to the opening of an envelope' and they're not far wrong. I have flown to PER for lunch once, and then been on QF776 back in the afternoon :)

That total was only for QF flights; it didn't include the other 27 flights on AA & *A which totaled another 43,770 miles!

Thankfully this calendar year has slowed down a lot for me; only 38 flights, 99,456 miles and 215 hrs BIS to date.

I'm only sitting on 565 SC's at the moment and I'm 3 months into my FF year; I might need a DSC promo to requalify for WP next year!

OK I'm not adequate :P

;)

Well we did go to sydney once for a bottle opening... the fact it was champagne....

Wasn't it multiple times? And c'mon, in all fairness, it was *multiple* bottles of Champagne too ;)

Oh how I miss the Bollinger Rosé :(

It would not surprise me if myself (and selected others around here) are the reason that the Bollinger Rosé no longer exists :(

That could be a reason, however trying the source it about 3 months ago, I found that there is limited to no stock of Bollinger Rose going around. Perhaps it could be a different reason altogether!

That makes me feel a little less guilty at least ;)

60,000!! Wow!! Would never have dreamed there were so many!! Who estimated it?
