Finally I have been able to make some bookings today that meet the v2 Double SC promo's (BNE/SYD/BNE and BNE/CBR/BNE)

Good kick along for my SC earning with VA :D (well, coming from such a low base)

Thanks VFF and VA :D

Did you book saver/flexi?
Care to post $ per SC, just for our info?

My flights are generally always the same - "Saver" on the outbound and 'Flexi" on the return. Can't plump for PE or J, self-funded business travel in those classes don't suit wife + 2 kids + 2 dogs.

BNE/SYD Saver $89 IIRC
SYD/BNE Flexi $198 IIRC
All-in $321 incl surcharge & GST

BNE/CBR Saver $114 IIRC
CBR/BNE Flexi $198 IIRC
All-in $357 incl surcharge & GST

 Haven't looked at the SC earn yet, poor excuse for an AFF'er. You'd think I'd have done that...

BNE/SYD/BNE: (10 + 20) x 2 = 60
BNE/CBR/BNE: (10 + 20) x 2 = 60
Total: 120

$/SC = 678/120 = $5.65 - not really in the mileage junkie category :(

I managed to book the following

OOL SYD stop over in Syd TSV $473 20SC +40SC = 60 x 2 =120
TSV MEL $428.50 40SC 40X 2 = 80
MEL OOL $385 60SC PE 60X 2= 120
OOL PER $400.00 40SC 40 x2 =80
PER MEL $443.50 40SC 40 x2 =80
MEL DRW $597.00 80SC PE 80 X 2 160
DRW BNE $605.00 80SC PE 80 X 2 160
$3332.00 =800 SC
3332/800 = $4.17 per SC

As I have already hit 800 SC that will give me 1600 so do I get partner gold

Don't forget that Virgin offers "Fly Ahead", so if you are certain to be flying on your departure date, but just want some flexibility to get home earlier if possible, then Gold and Plats need only book one of the later "Saver" flights, and when getting to the lounge, simply ask to "Fly Ahead" if seats are available.

Just another difference that makes Virgin good for business.

Always looking for ways to get brownie points  - I've always had good luck with getting on earlier flights home on QF, so hope it holds with VA.

A slight variation on 'flying ahead'. For my status run, I'll be flying MEL-OOL-MEL in PE on a Saturday morning. I arrive in OOL at 0735. I'm booked on a flight back to MEL at 1050 (in line with DJ requirements for 90 minutes between return flights).

However, there's a OOL-MEL flight which departs at 0815. I'll have qualified for Silver status the night before, but, assuming I'm simply a Velocity Red does anyone think I have any reasonable chance of being able to change to the 0815 departure when I get to OOL in line with the 'flexibility' of a PE ticket? I know DJ have a firm 20 minute close for checkin, but how close to departure could an agent at OOL slip me onto the earlier flight? Obviously the key is not to check in to that return flight!

As you will be one of the first off and the aircraft coming in will make your flight out walk staright to the gate agent and ask them to help you as you are travelling PE they should be able to assist. I have had them open a flight back up when there were delays I was travelling Premium. Or you could cancel you return leg and use the credit to re book on the 0815 you will then have different PNRs there is not cost as you are in premium and then you can checkin on line you wont miss the plane as its an hour late in your will be an hour late out. When changing Premium fares it can be done on the phone with no cost.

Hello,

I am going to book a trip to Melbourne soon, so I need to know if I got the sale fares, that is 145$ from Perth to Melbourne return for two people would I get 160 status credits?
I would love to get to silver sometime next year and with the status credits being doubled that is a big help.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for any help.

As it is Discount econ it earns 20SC each way so 40 for the return double it makes 80 per person

Great, thanks for that. so if i booked the flight for me and my girlfriend i would get 160 points?

IF you pooled your points and status credits and you were the benificary you would get the 160SC.

You'd both get 80 SC's, or if you are able to use the SC/points pooling, then yes I think that works (160 SC's).

Just booked the family a pre Xmas trip to Melbourne, $850 for 300 SC (They all are pooled to my account) should hit Platinum in Feb (6 months), this never would have happened without double SC and pooling. Thank god, I have finally had a win :D:D Well done VA'
