Dear all,

Is L the only class for a LONEx fare? Would it be possible, for instance, to book a higher Y class, for one segment?

I am waiting for the funding to be approved and now there's no L-class seat from EZE to SYD on 3 July *sigh*

A DONE5 means a business class oneworld Explorer 5 continent fare (D is business class); a LONEx is an economy class ticket (L is economy class); a AONEx is a first ticket (A is first class). This means that there must be availability in either L, D or A class (depending on the type of ticket you purchase) on your flight. For example, if there are 0 seats available in L class you won't get a seat, even if there are Y seats.

It is not possible to book a xONEx and have one or more flights in a higher (or lower) class, except where a particular airline's frequent flyer program allows you to upgrade.

Thank you for reminding me, Danger, and for the answer. I meant LONE5. Maybe I was just dreaming for a DONE5.

No, on a LONEx fare, you can only book into L on that segment. If no L then you cannot book on that sector.

Also, a DONEx does allow you to book A fares on 2 class AA domestic flights where there is a First but no Business cabin (although for international short haul 2 class flights, the highest class is Business, so there is no change) - which is why a well-conceived DONEx can be the best value of the lot. :)

The only way you can book into anything but L is if there's Premium Economy on offer on that leg with QF/BA, and you're then able to pay a surcharge and book that sector into R class.

As a guide, AUS-LA would set you back A$1250 one way

Thank you for the insights guys. *thumbs up*

I've never noticed but the OW booking machine also allows users to add $820 or $1250 for upgrades to available PE seats in certain segments.
