Lots of very good info about booking RTW from outside Australia, and in particular JNB.

So, to confirm the procedure for doing this....

If I start my RTW flight in JNB and my first flight is on BA to LHR, it gets ticketed by BA even though I have started my search on Qantas site by clicking their RTW flights.

After I have my booking number I ring BA in South Africa to make payment. I then presume they will email me the electronic ticket.

If I change the first flight JNB to LHR to AA code share instead of BA, I ring AA in Dallas to pay.

I do wish to maximise my SCs so prefer to have QF flights if possible even though it may cost a bit more.

Who's flights you have should not make a difference to your SCs s it's still oneworld. It would make a difference to the QFF points earnt though.

No - if you start the search from the QF site it will ticket on Qantas.

You need to start the search from the oneworld site to ticket with other than QF.

If it is ticketed by Qantas, will I pay them by CC online as per usual when booking a flight with them? I think I've got confused with all the posts talking about ringing up AA or BA to make the payment.

Has anyone had experience of booking a RTW flight on the QF site starting in JNB? If so, would you mind sharing your experience as regards payment of your flight. Thanks.
