Hi All,
My mum is flying this Friday from Perth to Brisbane and for a late Mother's Day gift I've put in an upgrade request. I've just got a few questions, what are the chances for the upgrade coming through (QF650 and me being Gold FF) and also when will I be notified of the upgrade coming through?

Thanks,
calmelb

QF650 showing: J9 C9 D7 I4. As there are 4xI class available, 50/50 for a Gold I would surmise.

Should hear about success anywhere from 24 hours to 3 hours before the flight. Or maybe even later.

Last week as a WP mine (Syd-Mel) came through about 48 hours before the flight.

I had a SYD-BNE flight that was 6 days out, put in the upgrade with instant success. Also have one in for a GC flight this Thursday and still waiting to hear. I'm a simple SG.

There are two upgrade options for domestic flights. If U class is available then the upgrade is generally confirmed immediately. If not confirmed immediately then the upgrade request can be waitlisted.

For domestic, 95% of the time for me, it's instant. If I don't get it straight away, it doesn't usually happen. Good luck with it!

It all depends on the fare classes that are available. If there are classic business awards, that is U fare class, then it will be instantly upgraded. (putting aside computer glitches) It sounds like there is U class available 95% of the time that you request upgrades.

Thanks! Though I won't be able to access the awesome first lounge because I'm under 18.

Would you be allowed to guest in [-]someone[/-] a friend/family member over 18, thus fulfilling the accompanying adult part? No idea if this would work, just a thought.

I put in for a points upgrade for my parents recently and it wasn't confirmed until online checkin opened.

If I was the OP's mother, I would be pleased about the upgrade request but less than pleased about the suggestion that my sub18 yo son could guest a stranger he 'met' on the internet into the lounge....

I didn't 'suggest' that he guest a stranger into the lounge, someone could be a friend or family member.

I can guest someone in, but the problem is I usually travel by myself, and my dad doesn't like being guested in by his son :P (He is gold with CX, my mum being Diamond with CX)

Daturtle, relax :)

If I was the mother of a sub-18 yr old WP, I would probably have got over the fact that he has travelled a HELL of a lot, and can probably stand on his own two feet :)
