Domestic & International Seat Selection now has exit rows

Surely I should be able to do that at the lounge :(

If you have Exit Row, you can confirm this on a kiosk (the next gen ones), as for DG's this has to be done via a staff member.. Lounge or check-in area.

I had wondered this, with NGCI I’ve learnt I don’t need any human contact until the lounge/gate… but now if I select an exit row does that all fly out the window? :p

Prior to this enhancement I had a paid J fare that wouldn’t let me select forward of row 4 on a 767 as an SG, has that changed?

I guess there are two possibilities with exits - either go to the Premium desk, or one of the agents "floating" around the kiosks might be able to swipe something to check you in for an exit. Will be interesting to see what happens.

On a 767 SG only has row 4-5. Once I hit WP, I could then see rows 2-5, except on the JASA that's now back to rows 4-5 with this latest change.

Does it require staff involvement, or do they just confirm eligibility for an exit at the gate?

Does not require staff, asks you a set of questions on the kiosk. If you lie about it, the FA's will move you on board when doing their own checks.

Perhaps this could be something else as well, if I assume it is not a bug. All of the classic award flights mentioned in my previous post were booked by me with my points for two NBs - I guess my WP privileges must have applied to them. Maybe from now on, it is the higher of the status of the person booking the flight and the actual passenger for seat reservations with regards to award bookings. Anyone to prove or disprove this theory???

I've got the same - I'm WP and have a JASA which I can only select rows 4-5, but on a paid J fare I can select row 2 onwards. I think there are still some bugs with some selections that are coming up.

I grabbed an exit row seat the other day online but as it got closer to time I switched to closer to the front as seats opened up. I don't really think exit rows are worth the extra hassle unless you are over 190cm tall or the flight is longer than 3 hours.

Give me Y 'business' in the right 767 any day!

Correct me if I am wrong, but previously I believe only WP/SG/PS could select Int'l exit rows seats from the timing of booking up until 7 days out (where it then becomes open slather until T-24).

Has this changed or am I mistaken?

I thought anyone could ring up and purchase one? But I could be mistaken too!

Certainly this could not be done on line unless you had status.

The FAQ's for Exit seats purchasing indicated a negative to calling as well.

of booking up until 3 hours before their scheduled flight departure

The last time I booked an international exit row as QP NB (around 2 months ago) I had to wait until 7 days prior until I could book.

If this policy has changed then I've heard it all! QF really doesn't give a rats about preferential seating to its elites.

Can any NBs with a medium/long haul Int'l flight in more than 7 days time run a test to determine whether exit rows can be selected/paid for?

QF NB (with QPUB) I have a flight to the states leaving this Sunday but was able to select my seating arrangement on all legs more than seven days out (selected on 30 Mar).
When I chose to select I could pick the exit rows at a cost of $160. I don't know if it would stop you actually purchasing it on checkout because I chose seat 80A on 380 for $20, a bargain in my opinion. :)

My flight is in August, MEL-LAX, and I've purchased an exit row seat.

Today I helped a friend (QF NB) do a booking to the UK in July/August and he was able to pick his seats. On the QF flights he was able to choose exit row seats for $80 per segment, however I told him to select 80A/K for $20 per segment.

Not good but I guess status pax are worth less to QF than the once a decade flyer who books a cheap fare months in advance rather than booking a few days out and paying full fare.:(

Well I was planning to do a status run to retain SG (95SCs), but QF can say goodbye to this + future planned travel to LAX which I'm now planning on switching to VA.

After reading through all this thread i have just gone in to my bookings and tried to change my seat allocations to get a few exit row seats for Brisbane to Sydney return trips in May and June. These are all cheap red e deals in economy. I am silver status and one is QF008 which is the 747 International flight and somehow i have been allocated a Premium Economy seat so i have left that one alone, Two of the flights are on 767's and on one i was able to select an exit row seat in Row 43 (43A^) On the other it was unsuccesful, but as has been pointed out previously it is a different configuration 767. On the lone 737 flight, it was also unsuccesful.
